Lorikeets Galore

Where I live I am blessed to be able to see wild Rainbow Lorikeets and Musk Lorikeets regularly.
Today I was driving out in the 'burbs and I heard a really high-pitched lorikeet sound that I thought was way too high to be a musk, and so I pulled over and got the binoculars and it was Little Lorikeets! I have never seen a wild one before and there was about 30 of them in this one tree with the rainbows and musks, as well as a few eastern (golden-mantled) rosellas.

I unfortunately didn't have my camera with me so no photos :( but they are a tiny grass-parrot sized lorikeet, with all the personality and bossy-ness squeezed into one tiny body.

Here's a pic off google:

I will try and go back to the same spot with my camera, but they are so tiny I don't know if I'll get any good photos but I can try!

We have Rainbow lories in our palm trees next-door. They are so-o-o noisy! Whats worse is Alice Cooper the budgie is a gifted mimic and joins in in lorie language...increasing the volume as the wild guys call to their relative to come join them eating the fruit....they are all pests! Love 'em.

You are so lucky! I live near Melbourne but have never seen a Little Lorikeet. They are cute. :)
I see rainbows, musks, scaly breasts and hybrids of the three, but no little lorikeets.

I don't think I have seen them either. They are sooo cute though. I guess since it's coming into spring we'll be seeing more of everything!
