Colour of lorikeet urine?

Hello,
I have a lorikeet whos urine (the really watery part) looks a bit yellowy. I'm not sure it is the colour of the poop leaching into the urine or something else? Do other lorikeet owners have that problem? or is the watery part meant to be always clear?

I took him to the vet today and the vet said to not worry about it, but infomation i read in books/online about birds always say that urine is suppose to be clear.

Dexter is on a mixture of Dr.Mac and Avione/Paswell + fruits+vegs at the moment and is full of energy.

Thank you in advance
Kathy+Dexter

Hi Kathy and welcome to the board.
Has his diet been changed recently? If his nectar mix has changed or he'st started eating different fruits and vegetables, that may be reflected in the colour of the urine.
My lorikeets usually have yellow urine/poop. I know most books say that urine should be clear, but because with lorikeets the poo is liquid as well, I think it just tends to come out all mixed up, more so then with other birds.
Was the vet an avian vet? If so then I would trust his opinion. Also has Dexter been behaving differently or seem to be out of sorts at all?
If he has been his usual self and is still eating and drinking normally I would say you have nothing to worry about, maybe just keep an eye out for any further changes.

Hello, Thanks for the reply
We changed his diet to Dr.Macs about a month ago. But even before that his poop and wee would be a bit yellowy sometimes. I don't think the vet is an avian vet, but he said they get birds very often (pets and wildlife). Dexter is his usual self, and he is eating and drinking properly. The vet took a sample of his droppings today to look at but has not got back to me yet.

I think they (books etc) mean 'clear' as opposed to 'milky' or 'murky,' you know? Nothing to do with colour- for example, both water and apple juice are 'clear' but one is colourless and one is yellow.
