Lost Congo African Grey - Pottstown PA (Please crosspost WIDELY)

CROSSPOSTED FROM ANOTHER LIST

Missing!!!

Congo African Grey Parrot. He weighs about 370 grams, is about the size of a pigeon or dove with a uniformly silvery grey body and a short bright red tail. He is handicapped and has no toes, but this does NOT slow him down at all. He was last seen in the alleyway between 2nd and 3rd streets in Pottstown PA at 6pm EST on Saturday March 22nd.

Tigger is a friendly bird, and does talk but he may be spooked due to being outside and may try to fly if approached. He is fully flighted due to his disability and is a very agile flyer. If he is seen, please do not approach him because he will probably fly away. Instead, have someone watch him and call me immediately. If seen, please contact me or my husband Scott at 610-564-5764 or 484-300-6726 at any time of the day or night, or you can email me at jacdobe@comcast.net

We are desperate to get our baby back and are offering a substantial cash reward for information leading to his safe return.

UPDATE ON TIGGER - Please crosspost

It has now been 26 hours since Tigger escaped. I just got home from an exhaustive day of searching. We were both out at 5:30-6am, (sunrise comes at 6:58 according to the chart) and looked and listened. We put up over 300 fliers within a 6 block radius and some farther at busy intersections bearing in mind that today was a holiday and people could have found him and taken him home farther away.

We have combed the close area, looking in trees, bushes, on tops of houses and garages and in yards and still haven't seen sight nor sound of him. We finally got Sadie screaming (how's that for a macaw, she never ever screams when you want her to! Now's the time I wish I had a white too) and Nissa shrill whistling but nothing turned up. There are three very tall and dense pine trees close by that we still hope he is in, but so far we have heard nothing.

One guy in our alley said he saw something red flying north yesterday when I asked, but it was half an hour before Tigger got out, so I'm not sure its reliable. Just in case we put signs up that way too. We are less than 2 blocks from a pretty big park, and I have taken Tigger there while in harness, so I put up a bunch of signs on the trees and handed them out to joggers and dog walkers and kids.

I gave my nephew 100 fliers and am having him take them to the middle school tomorrow when he goes in. I will call all the vets, pet stores, feed stores tomorrow and ask them to keep an ear out for strange questions, (i.e. What bird looks like this? What do birds eat? What type of cage is appropriate for this color bird, etc) as well as post the info. I gave the local Police Dispatcher enough fliers to give to the police units and to post in the community hall and at the dispatch office. I have posted to craigslists, parrots911, birdalert, and countless email lists along with those you all have distributed my emails to. I will call and put a lost notice in the local newspapers and ask them to run a special interest story. I am also going to call the radios and tv stations and hope they will do something if its a slow news day.

Please, if you pray, and even if you don't..please say a prayer that he is safe tonight and that we will recover him soon.

update that is being crossposted: I did NOT write this update, just got it.

Kristy called me tonight and said that Jean’s neighbor heard him outside last night. He called his name, Tigger and the bird responded. So as of last night he was still alive and we are thinking he’s in that big pine tree
