What area are you in? Maybe someone on here close to you can lend you a cage (longshot but worth a try) You could also check craigslist in your area, that is how I got my cage, I paid 100 bucks and it is 24x24x36ish tall

Ok, he's in the spare bedroom. I made 2 perches, one with a unpainted wooden broom handle, the other is the curtain rod from the shower. It is a very dark room with no windows, so I figure he will probably go to sleep. I put the bird feed I bought in there, as well as a soup bowl full of water. Thanks for the suggestions! Would it be a good idea to put a radio or something in there for noise to keep him company?

With regards to the cost of a vet visit...I think a vet would at least scan him/her to see if it was micro-chipped at no charge. But then you'd have to get him to the vet In the meantime, fruits and veggies (veggies more than fruit) are a plus. If he's that tame, he's probably a pet. Once when a friend lost a pet (dog), she called every vet within 30 miles and gave them the description. After a day or two, she got her dog back because someone had called the vet not knowing what to do with the 'nice dog that wouldn't leave her house.' Hoping everything turns out well (whether you find his owner's or you fall in love )

I can get him to step up pretty easily now that I have gained his trust. However, he does not like to get back off again once he is on my shoulders. He will eat from my hand, which is why I know he had to be a pet. Right now he seems scared, so I am back in the room to try and calm him down. He is shaking a bit, and chewing up my shirt. Oh, I am in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.

Yeah, I just got him to eat a few sunflower seeds from my hand. I chose them because he seems to like them the best, and figured it a good way to calm him down. He seems to be picking at his feathers vigorously like he is going after some sort of parasite.

Is he a mini macaw? Poor little guy. I hope you are able to find his owner and that he gets well soon!

Some of the ads may be repeats...

I agree, noble macaw... here's one that looks similar

You can find out more about them here...
Lexicon of Parrots

And this thread probably belongs in the Macaw section or the Lost & Found section....

You should probably look for a bird store in your area and find a more appropriate seed mix... as well as maybe feeding pellets, and fresh veggies.

Don't forget to look around your area for lost and found ads!

And it may help to put up ads that read "Found Medium Sized Green Parrot - Please Call to ID" so that no one can scam you into making you believe it's their bird... the person would have to describe how the bird looks as well as any behaviors or quirks or anything the bird does.

That's a good idea.

Also want to say thank you for looking for help. You are a good person for taking him in.
