Lost in Chico, CA 2/21 - Senegal parrot

Please help me find my beloved Senegal who managed to fly out the back door on Saturday afternoon. We found her in the trees but she wouldn't fly down to us, she isn't a very good flyer. The rain poured all day Sunday, but we managed to spot her in another super high tree. She is near the area of 15th St and Salem St in Chico, California. She is a classic Senegal, green body, gray head and bright yellow/orange under the wings. We aren't even sure it's a female, we just refer to her as that. She has a leg band that we can identify.

At least keep us in your thoughts. I won't give up until we bring our baby home.

Good luck and keep trying! Have you tried putting her cage outside with the door open or anything like that?

We found her!!!

I am ecstatic to report that Monkey, our Senegal is home safe. A neighbor saw our ad on craigslist and also spotted her flying around outside. She was almost 2 blocks away from where we saw her yesterday, but as soon as we walked over there and started calling, she chirped back. She landed on a low roof and we borrowed a ladder to climb up and fetch her.

She is home safe, eating a ton and being very clingy.
Time to make that appointment to have her wings clipped. :)

Thank you for your kind words of support. I can't express the feeling of relief and happiness I have now that she is home.

What a relief indeed and I'm sure a lesson learned : ) I only spotted this post this morning and am so happy it ended well as I had tears welling up in my eyes from only the first few lines. When we first got our fid I had no idea the bond between me and a bird could be so strong, I had no idea that this bond would be extended to birds and people I have never met!

Remember, clipped wings don't keep them from flying if they are frightened. Keep doors closed and if you take her outside, have either a harness and leash, or a cage. I'm glad she made it home, Chico isn't the most bird friendly town, nor are all the hawks and crows there!!
