FOUND Timneh in Gilbert Arizona

A woman found a beautiful African Grey Timneh yesterday. He was found in the Sun Lakes Community near Alma School Road and Riggs Road. Because I am a volunteer for a bird rescue, I got the call and picked him up. He is being fostered by me. He does not have a band. Seems friendly, but will bite if you try to touch him. Steps up nice though. Hasn't said anything yet, but has made a couple of sound effects. I would love to find his owner for him. I'm sure that he is sad and misses his home.

have you checked to reg places for lost birds? and thank you for being honest and trying to find its parents. I'm sure they are heartbroken.

Don't forget to take him to a vet and have them scan him for a microchip!

I have a friend who lost a timneh african grey in NM. It seems like a far cry to PHX but weirder things have happened. The lost bird's name was "Dukey" and he says his name. I can't recall for sure but I think I remember her saying that he was not banded and that he had a beak that grew a little thicker than usual. Let me know if this fits his description.

Happy Reunion

What a happy day we had this past Saturday. The owner of the Timneh I found responded to the ad that was placed on his Community Cable TV Channel. After correctly identifying the bird, it was a positive ID that the bird belonged to him.

My husband and I delivered the bird to Paul, her owner. She nearly jumped through the cage to get to him when she saw him. It was such a fantastic feeling! Her name is Dolly and she has lived with him and his wife for the past seven years. She was given to him by her previous owner who had her for five years. She sure was glad to be home again.

Here is a picture of Paul with his wonderful baby Dolly. I can't tell you how it warms the heart to see this story come to a happy conclusion.

Oh, and by the way, she was found less than a mile from her home. She escaped on March 9th and was found on March 12th. What a lucky, lucky bird!
