Pergo flooring

Does anyone here have Pergo? I was wondering how it held up to the birds and heavy cages. Are there fumes to worry about like in carpet?

I want to lay the glueless click together Pergo in my dining room and living room and wondered what bird owners had to say about it.

My dining room has ugly stone colored tile and the living room right now is concrete. We were going to do tile through out but it would mean a big move out. The Pergo is pretty and I could move the birds back in as soon as we are done unlike the tile which I would have to wait a day or two.
Also I have taken into account echo status. Tiles echos so much with six conures, a pionus and two quakers. Hardwood has the best sound absorbent qualities but stains. I think with proper underlay Pergo would have at least some sound dampening qualities.
Thanks,
Lynda

My sister has Pergo throughout most of her living areas, including the bird room. It's virtually unscratchable when moving furniture -- and I'm sure heavy cages would be just fine, as most of them are on wheels. It's very easy to keep clean -- she uses GSE. As to the fumes, I wasn't there when they first moved in but you can post this question on OPL and she'll be able to pick it up there. I'm getting ready to build and have all but decided to go with Pergo over tile. Carpeting isn't even being considered except for the bedrooms.

Thanks Joanie,
My worry with the cages was the weight on the floor. I know one cage weighs quite a bit since it is a triple, powdercoated, floor to ceiling cage. It is on casters though. We also will have a piano on the floors which is not on casters but we are going to get the special furniture coasters on the legs that will make it glide when moved.

What is OPL?
Lynda

Lynda, I don't think weight would be a problem. Jan has leather furniture and it's very heavy. As a matter of fact, ALL her furniture is very heavy, LOL. This stuff is really durable.
