Arrow Vegetarians

Ok, this is my first poll and I want to see if it works. Out of curiousity, how many people here are vegetarians? I'm assuming bird lovers would go for animal rights but hey, it's simply my curiosity.

If God had intended that Man not eat animals, he shouldn't have made them so dog-gone tasty.

LOL Mike! I'll be honest, I love meat, and if I had no meat in my diet I'd die of malnutrition of protein, and energy(I'd have no meat left on my bones). I've heard so many meat horror stories of how big meat companies run, and what they feed their animals. I also, would like to "help" cut down the land being used for meat farming.

I eat meat. As much as possible, we eat meat that we "catch" ourselves (or friends and family). Like King Salmon, Deer, Moose, ect.

However when buying beef or chicken in the store, I always get organic free range type stuff. Also vegetarian fed, free range chicken eggs.

Next summer I will have my own chickens so I will have my own organic eggs.

I eat packaged meat from the supermarket. But I couldn't eat something that was freshly killed, I would prefer not to be personally acquainted with my dinner!

We have a deep freezer literally packed (well, I guess it's not packed but it's pretty full) of meat that we have caught/killed ourselves. Kinda keeps us in touch with nature. I would definitely die without meat..would not be able to handle it.

I eat meat, but am very picky and particular about what I'll eat. For example, nothing ground up because I don't know what's in it. Nothing processed, and no pre-packed chicken fingers and such. I dissect every bite of meat I eat to make sure there aren't any chewy things or gross things in it. I do eat quiet a few soy products, however, like hot dogs, "chicken" nuggets, and sandwich "meats". Oh, and as far as "wild" meats, the only kind I've really tried is partridge meat, which I must say is absolutely yummy in my grandma's partridge stew.

Do you guys let your birds eat meat? I'll let my budgies eat it once in a while, and Lexi seems to adore it. Buddy will have a taste and then usually walks away. Lexi will devour her meat, especially turkey. Is that evil?

I'm a strict vegetarian, working towards becoming vegan. I can in no way even think of eating any kind of creature. I get plenty of protein from tofu, beans and the like. I feel healthier now than before. This choice is, of course, purely personal and individual. Whatever is right for you! Marion

Lily seems to like chicken and steak. She'll only take a few bites, though - nothing like peas! She will eat every part of the pea - the skin, the insides, and even the little pieces that she missed the first time!

Buddy and Lexi love peas too! They won't eat the outside though, they'll "shell" the peas and the eat the insides. Lexi goes so crazy eating them that she usually has the equivilent of 2 or 3 peas on her beak by the time she's done (and the sad thing is she doesn't notice!) They'll have full-blown fights over who gets the last pea too!
