Many feathered ones needing RE_HOMING?ADOPTION
This is a cross posting from another board....but someone maybe many will find this info quite appealing to their situation~ Kindly read & spread the word if you will.....re_homing is a HUGE and compassionate task...but through correspondence among one another on these boards....many feathered ones are flying in the right direction~ Thanks! You may contact me, & will do my utmost to get you going towards the approprate source where you yourself may take things from that point of contact! Good luck!
CROSSPOST>> Ruby - Grand Eclectus Hen -3 years old Ruby has been feather chewing/picking for approximately 2 years which started when her owner had to go back to work full time. She had a full blood work up when this started and there does not seem to be a systemic problem. It seems to be more of an emotional issue. She has been with me for a week now and seems to be an absolute angel although the bio from her previous owner indicates that she can be very aggressive. She had two "pet tents" in the bottom of her cage which I have removed, and the "cage aggressiveness" I was told she had does not seem to be at all evident. Her feather issues may be related to hormones and the need to try and line these pet tents. I have seen a few chewed feathers but nothing major so we will have to see. She will be going in for a general health exam after the first of July. > Ruby has also been on a primarily seed diet. I am in the process of starting the food conversion to pellets and fresh foods now, and would prefer to have this completed before she goes to her forever home. > Jesse & Hailey - Goffins and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos I don't have a lot of info on these two birds as Georgia has their information. They both appear to be sweet birds, but must be adopted together as they share the same cage and are best buds. They also are on a seed diet, and Georgia is working as best as she can toward converting to pellets, but has a full house and limited time right now. > > Reno - Moluccan Cockatoo > Reno is extremely shy and skittish and has not been handled a lot. He was dropped off as a border and the owner never returned to retrieve him and did not return phone calls, so history on this fellow is extremely limited. At present Georgia's teen age grandson is working to establish his trust, and he is making progress. He has been converted to pellets and is beautiful feather. He is learning real cockatoo calls from Georgia's M2 and apparently there is quite a racket coming from her bird room these days when these guys get going. > > Bubba - Gofffins Cockatoo Georgia purchased Bubba to save him from being traded around bird fairs. He wears an import band that indicates he came into the country prior to 1993. We suspect that he is probably 11-12 years old. He has not been handled and although she was told he is stick trained he has shown no signs of that. Georgia's grandson is also working with this bird and has been allowed to pet his head. > > Petie - Grey Cockatiel 1-2 years old Georgia was contacted by a gentleman who needed to get rid of two Tiel's. One went to rainbow bridge almost immediately after Georgia got them home. Petie is currently in isolation and his psitticosis test is pending. The vet staff says he is a really sweet bird, but extremely lonely since he has lost his mate. He hates Georgia, but seems to like everyone else. > Ruby, Jesse, Hailey and Reno, all came from the same home and were very well cared for and healthy. A broken relationship is the cause for their rehoming. The owner has found it necessary to move into her mother's home, and her mother has limited her to two birds, not a decision I would want to have to make, but she has chosen her Amazon and Timneh Grey. She clearly loved all of these birds and relinquishing them to us was very difficult for her. All of them have cages, although not necessarily what you or I would call appropriate, they are the cages they have lived in for some time. > These birds are all available for adoption to the appropriate forever home. Adoption fees will only be enough to cover our fostering expenses, which will primarily be well bird vet visits. We are not looking to profit on any of these birds however in Bubba's case the fee will be $450.00 because we had to purchase him to prevent any further stress. Reno was converted to pellets by the vet and there is some expense there, but I do not currently have the figures, as Georgia took care of that. Because these birds all come with cages we are requesting that you not ask that we ship the birds. We will make every effort to meet you some where if you can not get to St. Louis. > If you are interested in any of these birds please contact me for more details at ekkiemom@b... .Rain <glider_gurl03@yahoo.com> > If you know of another list where these birds might find there forever home please feel free to cross post.

I wish...
I wish that I could adopt ...
There is no way that I can travel that far right now. I just had a hysterectomy. I hope to be able to see my sister in LA at the end of the month, if the DR says o.k. If there is a friendly one...and we could figure something out... If not... Do you know of any birds that need a home closer to Houston,TX? :?

Hope you heal Quickly~
You mentioned being in Texas...I posted here about a month ago now a BEAUTIFUL bird named OZBIRD & his owner lived in Texas & would only let him go to someone who could drive to get him, hopefully someone in Texas! This was aGORGEOUS bird! I myself would have wanted him, a Triton Cockatoo, so far as I know, right now his owner has allowed OZBIRD to go live with two gay men nearby & OZBIRD will remain there if he is happily settled! But certainly you will have another chance to see more postings..that is if the board does not interfere & request I no longer post such. Honestly, it has been so very helpful & remarkable avenue being able to post these poor lil feathered ones needing someone to speak for them & insure a happy forever_home. So keep your eye here at the boards, your opportunity may indeed be right around the corner one day! Thank you for your interest & compasssion! I also wish to sincerely THANK the moderators & admin. of this board for their compassion & helping in there way by allowing such postings!
