I was just dreaming of the "IDEAL" bird aviary etc on the way home. I guess we'll all have to play the lottery.

Laurie:

We had considered adding on to the birdroom and just using sliders and stationary window panels. Sometimes you do better that way, especially if you have a carpenter that does a lot of rehabbing older houses. And, since you live in such a hot climate, you may have to be very careful about all of that glass. You don't want to cook them if the AC goes out. I wonder if anyone is doing modular room additions?

What my father-in-law did was turned his screened in porch into the "florida room" so maybe you guys could try that? He also did it all hisself!!!! And he is in his 70's. Of course I am not sure that it is actually airconditioned but it does have fans and it does have windows with screens and 2 doors. One door from the house into the room and then one from the room outside. I don't know what it cost him but I could find out. And yes he did have to get it inspected and stuff to make sure it met code, which it did.

Glass on 3 sides? That would make me VERY nervous in a hurricane zone. What about a nice outdoor deck instead, that would be a lot cheaper too?
