Movie-stars, Singers, People in the Limelight......

I think we all sometimes wonder why all the fuss over certain well known people (either on T.V., in the movies etc. etc.) that we individually just see NO reason for them to be considered so HOT, in whatever way, by the general public :) ..........I know , I just have way too much time on my hands this morning to wonder about this :) . Actually I originally thought about it a few times in the past when I was lounging around watching a particular T.V. show or talk show etc......

I'll name a couple to start off with. I have others and will add them when they come back into my mind.

Brad Pitt (just don't get it but I'm not female of course and really would still have the same opinion, I think, if I was). So he tightened up a few muscles for the last big movie he was in, anyone can do that!

Pee-Ditty, Puff Daddy etc.... (Shawn Combs I think is his real name). This guy has always just "rubbed" me the wrong way.

Janet Jackson.....Michaels sister of course......Heck, tons of make-up can make anyone look better etc.....

Bunch more but got to go now, will add on later......

Still haven't clicked off here yet but will now after this. I absolutely agree with ya on those two LWA, I was going to add Brittany but since I did like her a bit when she first came out, I left her off. I mainly only was curious about people we NEVER liked AT ALL for whatever reason. Jessica Simpson was also one of mine to add to my list but couldn't remember her name at the time. She also IMO can't sing very well at all but may possibly get better in time, who knows....Gotta go take the vehicle to the shop now.....Later..... :)

Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson: Anyone with that much money and that good of doctors can look that good....how 'bout this...can we find a Modern American Icon that actually...oh, I don't know....CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE IN CHICKEN OR TUNA? Or....maybe...NOT GET ENGAGED TO A MAN WHO HAS ANOTHER GIRL PREGNANT AND ALREADY HAS OTHER CHILDREN (can we say "male gold-digger?")....it'd just be nice if these people would even just TRY to make themselves appear a little bit more intelligent? I think it makes the rest of us females in our late-teens, early 20's look really bad. And really, if Jessica didn't look the way she did, could her husband really be able to put up with that??
Thanks for loaning me your soap box Joel...and just for the record...I don't see anything in Brad Pitt either :D

I think we tv viewers have hit the all-time "low" as far as tv goes; all of those stupid reality shows that are on, and they keep coming up with new ones, even stupidier than the last one, all because we have nothing better to do than sit in front of the tube and watch them!
I, myself, enjoy the History Channel, Discovery Channel, TLC, etc. I like to feed my brain, not live in fantasy-world. :!:

I reread my post and don't want to come off as a tv-snob. My hubby loves to watch tv and when he is home the tv is on. I have my favorite weekly shows; my beef is with the fact that reality tv has taken over and we have not only allow it, but encourage it. I would rather watch a good educational show than the crap that is being aired nowadays!
And I agree with both of you - Jessica is about as sharp as a marble.......Brittney is a hoochie momma...............

I don't really like most main-stream prime time...and I can't stand reality shows (except last comic standing and the American Idol try-outs, I by no means watch the whole season). The rest are really stupid and quite pointless. I love the Discovery channel, especially the hot-rod, motorcycle, and Monster Garage shows. I also love comedy central...believe it or not, as an Anthropology major, most of the shows (even south park) can be respected as social commentaries, kinda like a modern day social critique or political cartoon; and the Daily Show provides a news source that still gives the stories, but in a MUCH LESS depressing way. And, of course, no t.v. watching experience would be complete without the Disney Channel, as corny as it sounds.
I like things that are informative, but in an entertaining way. I can't stand watching shows that are just, I guess...um...prying into and messing with real people's lives purposely...the worst of them are all the stupid dating reality shows...if I wanted to watch two girls cat fight over a guy, there's springer...if I wanted to see two people make-out (or more) in a hot tub..well..there's a special channel for that too. I guess there's just too much petty "drama" and "games" involved for my liking...they actually kind of make me stress or tense-up.

The only show that I actually look forward to is The Sopranos. I just love it. I also like Last Comic Standing and The Daily Show. I like Reno 911 and most of the National Geographic Explorer stuff and lots of the stuff on Public Access TV. I guess I am a TV snob, but I don't really care. I LOVE old black and white movies and watch AMC all the time and Turner Classic Movies.

Prime example of someone not deserving of everyone's attention is William Hung, the American Idol REJECT. He has no talent, no personality, NO good looks, but he is STILL making appearances, getting paid WELL and even has his own flashy website! He's got merchandise, a CD (also a second one being produced) and even a DVD ("Hangin with Hung") By the way, when Hung made an appearance in Miami, he drew a crowd of about 10,000. I think this is particularly weird in a town that REALLY overdid the playing of "She Bangs" and all things Ricky Martin. Where is Ricky now, lol??? I just don't get it. If Hung is an example of what people have been wanting all this time, I could have been RICH, hahaha!

I agree with Outlaw. Sopranos is entertaining. We really liked Deadwood as well. Last Comic standing is great because no matter what you'll get to laugh. Daily Show is great, with America's 2nd funniest comedian, Jon Stewart! He fits my sense of humor perfectly. (I love sarcastic wit!)

ok ok Joel
Tom Cruise - an arrogant, self-centered, full of himself man that does absolutely NOTHING for me......................
Jane Fonda - let's not even start with her....................
I agree with Nancy as I do like AMC and all the old western.......I would rather watch an old western any day over "who wants to marry my dad"
