Exclamation Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans

It's hot here so I've been inside watching the news all day. It seems that New Orleans is about to get MAJORLY slammed.

Looks like if everything happens that they are predicting right now, that New Orleans is going to be pretty much underwater for at least 90 days. How horrifying.

My thoughts and prayers to those in the area.... and those of you that were planning on going there for the BB get together might want to stop booking plans for the time-being. Sounds like it could be a pretty devistated and hazardous area for awhile.

This is already the Second worst hurricane on record, and the news is reporting that it may turn into the worst to ever hit in the US.

Lets hope the superdome holds up. It's not built for a worst case hrricane 5. And the glass on the highrises that people are fleeing to isn't rated for those kinds of winds either. I hope people stay safe.

Let's just hope it doesn't turn out as bad as they are saying. Most people don't realize that New Orleans is an average of 5ft under sealevel, up to 12 feet under. A 20-25ft storm surge is supposedly headed that way, not to mention Poncetrain is going to fill up, then get blown into the city on the back end of the storm, if the storm stays as strong as predicted....

I am just sick over this. I have a friend there who is staying in her house in N.O.. She has to many birds to be able to move them all. New Orleans is in my prayers. I was wondering about the Super Dome. Not the place I would want to be.

Those in the path of Katrina (Louisianna, Mississippi, etc.) are all in my prayers. I caught the weather channel at a friend's house (I don't have cable) and all they could talk about was Katrina. She's a big, bad one all right, and I hope that people will all be smart about it and just evacuate. There are many who are going to try and ride-'er-out, which I think is just a gamble they'll almost certainly lose.

Anyways, I hope that all you bird forum members out there who are in Katrina's path find safety and shelter and make it through! You'll be in my prayers!

ElwoodBlue (Laurie) just called and she's near Pensacola. She's gettin slammed with 60 mph winds and lots of rain. Keep her in your prayers, please. She got hit pretty hard this time last year. In fact, her boat is STILL atop a neighbor's house!

Let's hope with the strong storm surge that the waters took that damn boat out to sea never to be found again!

Hurricane

I've been trying to reach my step son all day. He is right on the gulf in Biloxi...They say because of the hurricane calls can not go through. I pray he and his property have been spared. Haven't heard much news on Biloxi.
