Chief Justice Rehnquist dies
WASHINGTON -
Chief Justice William Rehnquist died on Saturday evening at his home in Arlington, Va., a spokeswoman for the the supreme court announced. "The Chief Justice battled thyroid cancer since being diagnosed last October and continued to perform his duties on the court until a precipitous decline in his health the last couple of days," Kathy Arberg, the court's spokeswoman said. Thank you for noting Chief Justice Rehnquist's passing, Blake.
He was a man of extreme good character and stood firm for what he believed. Politics aside, one has to admire him for the intellect he brought to the court. It is also said that he had a great sense of humor, and gained the respect of all those he worked with on the bench. I tend to be conservative and agree with much that he wrote, although I also see a need for more liberal decisions at times. I do hope our nation will not be divided upon party lines, but kept together by leaders of honesty, integrety and compassion, no matter what the political affiliation may be. Linda In CA |
