But I cannot, because to support them there would bring them more support overall, and I will never be able to do that. My animals are a joy in my life, and I will offer no support to anyone who would try and take away my right to have them.

What they say about a few bad apple spoiling the rest is definitely true in this case.

Vick can still have the cold dark pit though.
What is sad is that most PETA members were suckered into becoming members based upon the false ideas of what PETA is. They euthanize healthy , adoptable animals to the tune of thousands of animals per years. The stuff on that website pertaining to this is accurate.

The pet owning members of PETA need to read that website. One of the first things they teach to their "field" people is how to euthanize an animal in the field. They are supplied with the means to do it. It is not just fringe people, The numbers are accurate, they kill thousands of adoptable animals but they don't want the public to be aware of it.

If the facts on that website that tells you of the PETA atrocities had anything on it that was false, PETA would have had their legal people force the owners of that site to take it down. PETA can't argue with the truth.

I just don't think it makes any sense to support an organization for it's "good works" and ignore the atrocities. An organization that can talk and "act" out of both sides of its mouth at the same time, collect money from people based upon the "good works" and try to hide their evil side is just a scam.

I don't want to hit a nerve here but it would be like supporting the nazi party in WWII because they did a great job of organizing the youth of Germany.

PETA is rotten to the core....I've dealt with their threats and "terrorist" acts while I was helping a friend set up a new pet shop.

A perfectly good store, just getting started had a visitor. She didnt say she was with PETA but she was dumb enough to leave a card. Shortly thereafter, a letter from PETA was delivered to my friend. The letter included the same name that was on the card left behind by the dummy who visited the store. The letter threatened to close the store down. Soon after, there were phony reports sent by that person to the sherriffs department, the Humane society in our area, the Health department etc. All these people investigated, found the owner and the store to be more than satisfactory. When they found out that PETA was behind this, they suggested having the dope that visited arrested. The owner of the store didnt want to be bothered with that.

That's all I'm gonna say. If you are a member of PETA, you should rethink who you are sending your money to and maybe send it off as a donation to a real humane society.

Just about every humane society and shelter in the world euthanizes healthy, adoptable animals because there is no room to house them. The root of the problem is US, all of US, because we don't spay and neuter our dogs and cats.

"Real" humane societies euthanize animals by the thousands because there is no room to house them. The fault lies with all of us because we do not spay and neuter our animals.

Colorado Humane Society used to be a no-kill shelter. They've been around for 100 years! I was proud to be a volunteer and a board member and make regular financial donations to them. I resigned when they became a kill shelter. But it was a sign of the times because they were overcrowded as well. They are now in the middle of a huge scandal because they've been dumping euthanized animals in their dumpster. Ask me if I'd give them another penny.

This ingrid newkirk lady is pretty messed up.

Better dead than fed, PETA says

Quote:
Besides, PETA always has been about killing animals. A 2003 New Yorker profile included PETA top dog Ingrid Newkirk's story of how she became involved in animal rights after a shelter put down stray kittens she brought there. So she went to work for an animal shelter in the 1970s, where, she explained, "I would go to work early, before anyone got there, and I would just kill the animals myself. Because I couldn't stand to let them go through (other workers abusing the animals.) I must have killed a thousand of them, sometimes dozens every day."

That's right. PETA assails other parties for killing animals for food or research. Then it kills animals -- but for really important reasons, such as running out of room.
That's pretty horrible if you are able to find killing animals easier than simply confronting your coworkers about abuse, or making a personal effort to find them homes. She sure made a personal effort to kill them.

PETA protested one of my local dog auctions. They sat outside and chanted "better dead than bred".

At one point I was surrounded by about 50 of the protestors. Turns out that the PETA protesters where "paid protesters" and not even members of PETA.

If that isn't a crock full of crap, tell me what is.

Most activist that I've dealt with are on the "wharped and twisted" side. There are a few that do a decent job but they are far and few inbetween.

Don't forget about the Animal Liberation Front (ALF). They're notorious for going to fur bearing farms and releasing the captive bred animals into the wild. Talk about a death sentence and ecological nightmare.

Education will go much further than threat, intimidation and bullying.

PETA and all other animal rights activists can kiss off. They do more harm than good.
