Halloween Costume

Our five year-old son wants to be a...Nanday conure for Halloween. I said, "Don't you want to be Superman...?" Of all the things! But, he is enamored of Sunny and I know I shouldn't stifle his creativity. He'll probably be the only Nanday conure at the Halloween party he'll be attending.

Anyhow, I bought a pair of green long underwear; and green, blue, red, and black feathers. I'm going to sew the feathers all over the long underwear. I bought a plain mask (the kind that covers just the eyes and part of the nose) and I'll cover that with black feathers. My son will wear a black cap with black feathers covering it.

Not sure what to do for the beak. Maybe make a papier mâché one?

Any other ideas? I haven't yet begun to sew and I am really not looking too forward to it!

I would use a hot glue gun to attach the feathers. Lots easier!
For the beak, look in Walmart or a craft store for the rubber foam sheets. They look a lot like sheets of felt. You could just form it and put an elastic strap on to wear.

I was thinking on costumes today. I hadn't decided yet. Poor Maxie, I will probably try to dress her up. Never done it before... not sure how it will go. LOL

All the birds are doing great. I found homes for all the tiels now. Lukey, the canary & finches will live here. Whiteboy will be moving out in November. My Son bought a house and they move in then. Lukey cracks us up! She LOVES to eat!!!

Glenda, thanks for the update. So good to know you've found homes for everyone. I know with you placing them that they're in the right places. So, you've kept beautiful little Julian the canary and the finches and Lukey. Wonderful!

I was happy that they all got to stay with their mate! They even kept the names they know!!! Woo-Hoo!

Yup, Julian and his finch friends are staying. Lukey is too! Do you know the finches names? We knew Julians name, but not the finches.

I think his wife will be on here some. She reads on my computer now. If they don't, I will! LOL Thankfully, they are not moving very far, just into the outskirts of town.

Bluebell and Sis? Are those their names? Great to know we'll see Whiteboy from time to time. I still really miss Lee and can't believe she's gone. She was such a lovely person!

How about the feet? You could find twigs that look like bird feet to glue on covers over his shoes. I love Halloween too, I've already decorated my yard, Poppy went out there with me yesterday to watch
