Need ideas for halloween costume

Each year our office dresses up - last year I was a witch - this year I am not sure what to be - any suggestions - something that won't cost me an arm and leg?

Last year, I had fun going as Medusa!

I bought a bunch of small novelty snakes and tied them up in my hair (it would probably be easier to tie them in a wig...) , and had a larger one wrapped around my shoulders and the straps of my dress. I wore a long black shiny dress with long black gloves, and put a little makeup on. It was easy and looked really good!

Sounds like a great costume - only one drawback - I HATE snakes whether they are alive or plastic! I would probably have heart failure!

I am so jealous! I wish we had dress-up in offices for Halloween. Unfortunately it isn't so popular here though people do have private Halloween parties. I have a whole wardrobe full of belly dance costumes, I also have Cleopatra and a very lowcut "wench" dress with bodice I bought at a Rennaisaance Faire in California about 6 years ago.

I noticed the gypsy look is popular this year-it's available in all the shops, don't know if its the same over there. But you could buy a peasant blouse and ruffled skirt and a couple shawls pretty cheap and you would be able to wear them for other things too if they are trendy over there.

Idea

Maybe you could go what I am thinking about being myself :)

A pirate, that way I can put a stuffed bird on your shoulder :)

I just have to get my butt going and find a reasonable costume with a hook arm :)

Good luck :)

Hmmm. WEll, let's see. The BEST Halloween party I ever heard of was one my daughter went to. Everyone had to come dressed as a dead celebrity. She came as "Natalie Wood...the only wood that doesn't float". She gelled her hair, pinned in some artificial seawead, little crabs and plastic fish, got a dress from a vintage store circa 1960, wore fishnet stockings with leaves and little fish hot glued on them and used a novelty net as a shawl with more seaweed, fish and crabs attached.

Unfortunately, she was beaten by dead Patsy Cline. Some guy had managed to find a fringed cowgirl outfit and a long reddish brown wig. He took a blow torch to one side of the wig and outfit, and carved out a propeller from styrofoam. One half stuck out of the front and the other half stuck out of his back. The second runner up was Sing Sing, the dead panda from the National Zoo.

The EASIEST costume is to simply spill some coffee on an old robe, put your hair up in rollers, grab a TV guide and Soap Opera Digest and stuff them in your pockets. You get extra points if you have a tray with some burnt toast and coffee. The consumate housewife.

Kristy:

Don't forget a cigarette dangling from your lips, runny mascara and of course, fuzzy slippers.
