Bird names?

Maybe we've done this before, but I don't remember, so let's do it again..

Why did you name your fids what you did?

Me:
Zen - no name was coming to me and my boyfriend came up with this one. We got her at a time when I needed something to calm my nerves and a little bird seemed to fit the bill (of course she quickly grew out of her name!). Also, we used to have a zen rock garden in the corner of the living room where we put her cage.

Cory:
Spent most of a day trying to come up with gender-neutral names since she wasn't DNA'd yet. I wanted to name her Princess Tiger Lily, but if I did she would have turned out to be a boy. None of the names we came up with seemed right. Later that day I walked into the bathroom where my boyfriend was taking a shower and said "What about Cory?" just off the top of my head and we both went "Hmmm..." and it stuck.

My bird's name is Moon Unit.. after the eldest daughter of Frank Zappa.. Shes a lutino so white with lite yellow... I grew up with her Dad Frank Zappa and just couldnt see calling a girl bird Frank... now.. if I get a male will name him Dweezel (sp) ..

Long story but after having a person in your life for over 35 years... hope it makes sense.

The Fabulous Margarita: Originally named Mango and presumed male. I like naming my birds after tropical drinks. She was my third bird and was Fabulous. Will likes Margaritas, so viola! BG Macaw

Mai Tai: My first bird and named after MY most favorite tropical drink

Chi Chi: Again, tropical drink. Originally named Shecky. Hated it! Severe Macaw

Matilda: aka Tilde, I thought my quaker was a girl and she danced. Hence, Waltzing Matilde aka Tilde

Taco: Named when I got her. YN amazon

Dreamer: Named when I got him and I loved the name. BG Macaw

Radar: Made lots of beeping sounds. Already named, but I liked the name. TAG

Baby Sailor: Originally named Jack. I changed it to Sailor (I live near the Naval Academy) and I just like saying "Hi, Sailor" every morning. Baby is the name the other birds call him. BG macaw

Mia: Originally named Maiia. I already had a Mai Tai, so I changed it to Capri. She didn't care for the name, and actually named herself! I liked the compromise. BG Macaw

Cleo: Cleopatra. Is actually owned by a friend who can't make up his mind whether or not to just give her to me. I've had her for over 3 months. CAG

Also, I think the "Possession is 9/10ths of the law" rule goes into effect if you've had that sweetie for 3 months!

My parents dog is named Radar - he's a yellow lab.

A Chi Chi is very similar to a Pina Colada except there is no coconut milk.

I have a new lil 5 month old Goffin....am up for name suggestions!! So far HE is referred to as BG....as in baby goffin...big guy..& then of course my fav past_time band the BeeGees!!!!! Any ideas???????????

Let's see:

Ginger started with Buffett or Buffy, hated it and named her Gwenavier, everytime she tried to say it she combined it with Lover and somehow came up with Ginger on her own.

Pickles came with hers, we wanted to call her Merlin (thought she was a he), but 2 days later she was saying Pickles this and Pickles that, sooo.

Kianna came with "Baby", boring so we named her after a Hawaiin Goddess.

Galahad came with the name BoBo, and we changed that on quickly!!!

Dakota, came with Cody or Dakota, we liked Dakota better but call him both.

Sunshine came with "Baby", boring so since she has a large patch of yellow on nape...

Jynx, came as an 8 week old baby so hubby named him, of things after a cartoon cat, LOL!!!

Shadow, started with Baby Huey, then they had a DNA test and he is a she, the first couple of days here she followed hubby like a shadow.

Spikey, came with his too, and it suits him quite nicely.

Cricket a male tiel started with Katie.

Just before we got our first nanday Zorro, the movie Zorro had come out starring Antonio Banderas. As soon as I picked Zorro up I knew his name.
He was as sleek and heart stoppingly handsome as Antonio was in his Zorro mask LOL I fell in love the instant I met Zorro the nanday.

Geepers...WildIrish you for one have alot of birds..but WOW what great names you managed to come up with too!! I love it when the lil Senegals etc are named "Pickles" etc..seems so cute! I guess I am going to have to watch more closely for this lil ones disposition & he may earn a name that is fitting...he is kinda young yet...but he is gutsy & brave...he is always peeking at me in the cutest way..I wanted to name him Peek_aBoo or Picabo but my family is like.."Ewww..don't name him that,," So I keep on thinking...
