What a dork!

All this time I've been pronouncing Conure "kuh-noo-er." I called someone today to inquire about their Sun Conures, pronouncing it the wrong way, and the guy goes "what? oh, Sun KONYERS?"
I wonder how many people I've unknowingly embarrassed myself in front of!

Lol - i don't even start on that one... not so much with bird species names, but as a non-native speaker i run into the mis-pronounciation all the time

You got me there... Until now I thought Caique was pronounced "kike". Glad to see I'm not alone! I better stick to talking about birds on here where no one can hear how I pronounce it.

The guy at pets mart was calling my girls cockatoos and their cockatiels. I still feel uncomfortable when trying to pernounce it. I just say Tiels now-a-days. "teals"
