Personally, I was initially suggesting just another forum on the list that simply was called "Parents Playground" with a descriptive below saying something in reference to it being a FUN ROOM to goof off & tease a bit! Just like the lounge says ...Kick back & relax...but this "PlayGround" would ALSO be one of choice to enter and KNOW that it is an area where one can be ridiculous, funny, sarcastic, entertaining, razzing & teasing FUN! Not a room where we should be allowed totally filthy language etc...as right now we all have respect for the BirdBoard by easing the words which may roll from ones tongue! There are plenty of filthy & nasty places online & especially Yahoo without us having to add to it...I merely was suggesting a RAZZZZZZZZZ Room!!!! Geeesh, I didn't expect to cause such a ruckus out here!! There ya see what I mean...call it the Ruckus room~ Razzzz Room is fitting though!! iT IS all IN FUN & KEPT APART from serious threads...allowing continuity of a thread one may like to really follow but has to scroll through our teasing moments!!

I personally haven't read anything on this board that has had my ears perked, eyes wide open, and mouth agape! In other words, as Phil posted, nothing on this board has been anything worse than what is shown on tv every day! I don't think a separate room for 18 and over is needed......
Plus I don't think it is fair to the younger ones on here. If you all want a romper room for adults, doesn't yahoo or msn offer that option? Not trying to step on toes here, just being honest! Let's not alienate the younger members of our group; they have lots to offer and I would hate to chase them off.

I'm never offended by you guys, however...
Smurfy made a point of sometimes the original thread goes in a totally different direction from the question or discussion originally posted. Maybe in those cases, it would be a good idea to "take it outside" so to speak. Then if the person that was genuinely looking for information goes back to the thread they don't have to search through all the excess stuff to find the answers he or she was looking for. Plus, we don't want anyone to think we don't take their questions seriously, right? Does that make sense?

It does make sense.
But, I think "The Lounge" is a good way to isolate goofy threads (risque or not) from the more serious stuff. So, I don't see the need for creating a new forum division, when we already have a place perfectly suited for "razzing" etc. |

well....IF u guys decide to have a diff forum for "adult things" then u all who go there HAVE to promise to still come over here and joke around too....or it wont be that fun anymore

personally, I like the idea of an age limit for that ONE room (it's not like it's for the WHOLE site)....how about AT LEAST 16?
A lot of us don't want to go to yahoo, etc....we really only care to talk to the people here. BUT some convos, once one person gets offended, turn into a very uncomfortable situation or argument...simply because ONE person didn't understand or didn't WANT to understand the conversation...and, unfortunately, it's usually a younger member. With a seperate room, also, members will know what they're getting into when they enter that room...so if you're easily offended, or don't like the language, then don't go into that particular room. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone, but IMO I think it would make everything as a whole better.

[SARCASM]Hmph! Well, I for one am very offended that you suggested that people may be offended by potentially offensive posts posted in a non-segregated forum. But I hope my being offended doesn't offend you, because, as we all know, causing offense on an online forum is the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone.[/SARCASM]
Seriously, folks, we can go overboard trying to accomadate every concievable level of sensitivity and naivete. Yes, people do get their feathers ruffled from time to time, but I don't see any real harm in that. In fact, a more "no holds barred" aproach may even help some people learn to explain themselves better, and be more accepting of others' viewpoints. |

Wow ms smurf.....this has gotten bigger than you expected
OK, so everyone has very valid points on the issue. This is the exact reason it's never been done before. There are simply too many opinions, and I don't know what to do. Maybe the 18 yrs old age limit is a nono, and you just have to request to be a member. I don't know. I love the idea of just being able to state what you want without anyone censoring you. Believe me, I'm all for it. (I'm a teenager, what do ya expect) But like has been stated, I don't want some newcomer to see one of our petty arguments, and think that we're a bunch of a-holes. I think that maybe a possibility is:: And listen::: Make the "special" forum. You gotta ask to be a part of it. No age limit required. in special forum, you can post whatever you want. Threads like the religion thread will be moved there once they get out of hand...and they did :-) I don't know. It could be that this is just a bad idea all around. Everybody's got their own opinions on the subject, and they're all right. Keep discussing Kevin |
