cheese, Zig & Zag and Falcon and Snowy.

And that's how they got their names.
That's hilarious!!! Cute

Alaska got his name because he is an Albino cockatiel.

Flapper got his name because he never really flys...he just flaps around. His nickname is dive bomber.

That is wierd to me that a color made you think of Camille. Camille is my name, but most people have never even heard of that name before! They always look at me funny when I introduce myself!

After I got Freidric, we all just called him "little birdie" until I thought of a name. We would all sit around and yell out whatever name came to us and I would say whether I thought it was fitting or not. Somehow we got to names of movie characters and we eventually got around to "The Sound of Music". I immediately loved the name Friedrich. But I didn't love the spelling, so my bird's name was Freidric.

I like old-fashioned names for birds - the ones that I like but would never dream of naming a child.

It's weird to me, too. I don't know how I made that connection... she just looked like a Camille to me, and it had something to do with her being a yellow bird.

My iguana's name is Xander, and people are always asking me how I came up with that name, assuming I'm a Buffy fan (which I'm not). The truth is, I took one look at him... his scales and his spikes and his 'too cool for you' gaze, and the name Xander just popped into my head and it stuck. It suits him.

Lets see why name a lovebird "Squeaky" for those of you that have them you know why, all they do is squeak. It took me all of about half of a day to come up with his name.

Squeaky is AKA as:

Squeak the Freak
Squeakarama
Squeak Daddy
Squeakykins

When he acts like the Squeak the Freak that is known as watching "Squeak Theater"

I have more but gosh I can not for the life of me remember them all right now.
Now I know what they mean by "Pet Names" he has enough personality for five or more birds wrapped up in that tiny little body

Yoshi is named after the dinosaur on the Nintendo games, since he is green. Zoey came with her name, she was adopted by us.A couple of weeks ago my daughter said "we should have named him Shrek and Zoey, Pheona, that would have fit too. Chopper was called baby for a few weeks until my daughter said "come here Chopper", that name wasn't on any of the lists we made with names so it stayed Chopper. Zazu came with his name as we also adopted him.My newest soon to be member is called Idgee after the character on "Fried Green Tomatoes", though I might change it to Itsy, as it's easier to say! LOL!

#1 Fid: Arelynn

There is a whole big story about Arelynn's (Aree's) name. My dad had strict rules about naming her. First rule is that it had to be a golfer's name. Second rule is he had to like it. My step mom and I searched for days trying to come up with a good name. I already wanted to name her Arelynn which I found on a baby names site. It means "song."

Dad kept suggesting names like "Lopey" or "Chi-chi." When we finally found Aree Dad protested and insisted we call her Chi-chi. On the day we went to go picked her up, we drew names out of a hat and low and behold it was Aree!

I asked Susanne later on in the day if both of the names were Aree and her reply was "That's for me to know, and you to never find out"

So that's Aree's name story. BTW her full name is Arelynn Chi-chi Young

Right now I have one peachfaced lovie, Beetle.

I sort of fell into a habit naming companion animals after other animals. I used to have a rabbit named Puppy. About a month before I brought Beetle home I got a male BEW Holland Lop, who came w/ a show name of Jiminy Cricket. That was just too big a name for a wee little rabbit, so I took to calling him Cricket.

Anyhoo... so I brough my little lovie home, thinking of calling him Sprout. That just didn't seem to fit. Beetle just came to me, since his feathers are shiny, much like a beetle's shell.

In the past I had budgies. The first, Kudzu, was named after that keeping vine in the South. I had read a poem that mentioned Kudzu around the time I brought him home and it just seemed to fit. Then I brought home, Aziz, who was named after a character in Passage to India. I also had Phoebus, which a friend picked out.
