Back yet again

Oh man, I was gone for over a week and holy smokes you guys posted alot, that I had to catch up on lol.

I went up to Northern Ontario, kayaked, hiked, yup physical effort. Also went to the Toronto zoo, and was really excited as they have a walk in exibit full of Lorikeets. You can also buy nectar to feed the lorikeets and they fly to your head, arm, shoulder, or whatever(This is a boy amazed, and yet I have a tiel sitting on my shoulder right now, and a tiel who flies out of nowhere onto my shoulder).

And boy did I ever feel a warm sensation now or then coming from those little lorikeet bottoms

Anywho, when back from vacation( my sis was looking after the pets), I discovered my rough green snake dead. He died of a infected cloclea(sp?), and in return I recieved a brand spankin new baby rough green snake.
I am also a volunteer at the petstore where they have tons or herps and birds!

Very excited, anywho glad to be back
Steven

Welcome back Steven!

They had the lorikeet exhibit at the Philadelphia Zoo a few years ago - it was wonderful. It was a very hot day and they had lots of sprinklers for the birds. The ones who weren't landing on people and drinking the nectar were frolicking under the sprinklers. My mother-in-law has a framed picture of me in her house from that day - me, covered in rainbow lorikeets.

Sorry about your snake.

Hey guys, come visit Australia! We have rainbow lorikeets in our back yard all the time! Also king parrots, rosellas and various cockies. Not to mention all the non-parrots. We planted one section of the garden in bird attracting plants just for that purpose. Our pet cockatiels have window looking out and they love watching the wild birds.

YES YES YES--I would love to have you guys come over-we could charter a bus and go to the more remote parks-I haven't even done that yet-my car is like 12 years old-not up for anything more than local parks.

Bats not Birds...

Yeah, Michele, there are oodles of bats here too!!

Hey, Tiki, you know Currumbin Wildlife Park (used to be Currumbin Bird Santuary) ??? For those of you (er... everyone) who doesn't know, they used to have the HUGEST mass rainbow and (argh!! can't remember the other name...) lorrikeet feeding twice a day - but I *think* they stopped doing it because of the number of tourists who complained about the poop!!

(they also rescue/ take in heaps of injured bats, roos, possums, birds etc)

Okay, Steven, what I think is gunna have to happen is that we firstly go to the US for a little while, and then Aus, okay? Yay!!

No, no, lets go round the world!! okay, gettin a bit excited there...

We were at Currumbin just a couple of years ago they were still doing it. Must be a recent thing. :( But that's just silly, if the tourists are so worried about being pooped on, they can simply stay way from that area during the feeding time. I really enjoyed it-the feeding not the pooping I love O'Reilly's too. Have only been there on a day trip because the lodge is so expensive-someday I'd like to spend a weekend there.

Since we are going around the world, let's squeeze in Brazil (Pantanal and Amazon) and Peru (Manu Biosphere) just for the chance to see macaws in the wild! :)

YE-ah!! I think I could make myself do that...

We were at the bird santuary mid last year - and it wasn't on! (the poop, no the feeding... well, both... )
