Smile Soon to be new addition to family...

Hello~ Don't know if this should be posted here or another subject?
I'll be getting a 7 yrs old male Yellow Collar Macaw from the person I got Cricket from next week. Cricket (QP) and Rico (YCM) have been roommates before I brought Cricket home, now the owner decided to rehome Rico and I told him to contact me FIRST if he decides to rehome him, cuz I fell in love with him at first sight. We bonded immediately. I do know he talks ALOT, playful, flirtative, goofy, etc. I did some research and reading on the breed of bird. Read that they need at least 10 hours of sleep or they'll be grouchy and aggressive? True or just depends on the bird?
And I do also know that hubby needs to bond with him much as possible to prevent becoming a one person bird, as I believe he was before the current owner had him.
I do know that certain food is not safe for Rico just as much as Cricket and that goes for ALL birds. Pretty much same veggies and fruits diet as Cricket, except Rico will eat bigger seeds/pellets, etc. than Cricket cuz of his size and bigger toys than Cricket.
Ok, question, since they were roommate together and been apart for a month and half by the time I bring Rico home, do I need to quarantine Rico away from Cricket for couple of months? or it's ok since they were in same room before?
I'm looking forward adding Rico to my family along with Cricket. Will post pic as soon as he comes home. Also Rico will be with me PERMANENT along with Cricket, since he's been bounced around few different homes already and once he comes to my home, I wont feel comfortable giving him up for any reason, for any of my animals lol.
Any advice, tips, etc would be greatful!

Thanks!

Congratulations Carla. It's great that Rico and Cricket will be reunited. Unless Rico has been exposed to other birds I would not worry about quarantining him. As far as the amount of sleep goes, I beleive all parrots should get at least ten a night.

Darla:

I think its great that these guys will be reunited. That's very kind of you. You are correct to try to get your birds used to everyone in your household. That makes living with them much easier. Congratulations

About the sleep thing- each bird is different, so it really depends on the bird. Generalizations are that, generalizations, you will learn so much more from this guy then you will books. Sometimes I wonder if the authors of books and or websites have ever lived with a bird before, they are so off in their information.
Congrats tho!

That's so true, I have had people telling me to use a book to read, but I know in my mind that most information in the book are not correct and that I rather hear from experience bird owners than reading the book. I know I will learn more about Rico as we will grown together along with Cricket and from bird boards of course, I'm in QUITE a bit of bird groups lol so all the groups have been pretty helpful as I learn everyday.
Thanks!
