Too much stuff is going on lately...

I've noticed that once again we have a problem on the board, and really wish that no one would leave and we could get things worked out. I know its not fun when someone else makes threats and such to disrupt someone... I use to be an admin of another board (that is owned by a 19 yr old, about birds of course), and when that person was coming over to the USA (from NZ) to see my sister, he had someone watching over the forum while he was in the process of packing, and on the flight over... Because of this person I lost my admin abilities, and another person on the forum left... He made many threats to me, and to the other person, as well as called my birds disgusting, and that I was an idiot... That forum was nearly shut down twice because of how things were going, and I don't want that to happen to this forum, either!!!!!

Anyway, just wanted to update everyone on a bit of news about myself... My mother should be going to New Zealand on the 27th of this month, and staying for 10 days, and well, during the time that she is gone, I might not have any internet access (that is if we can get things worked out so that she CAN go.... having problems with me and her highschool friend which is now our roommate). I just don't know what will be happening to me, and whether or not I'll be going to public school, or even if I'll be able to go for the first week of it! My mother wants to put me back into public school, or continuation school, so we'll see what happens about that...

On other matters, well, I'm sick, and I've been sick for quite a while now... I've had a sore throat for nearly 2 months, and I've gotten worse with headaches, an aching neck, and slight back problems... I've been able to cope with the sore throat for over a month, and seemed to be getting better (not as much coughing due to clogged throat, but have gotten worse within the past couple of days so its time for the doctor...). Not sure when, but sometime hopefully soon I'll be able to go to the doctors office (at the moment, I have no insurance, so it's going to be harder on my mother)... I suspect a bacterial infection, however, only the right side of my throat is swollen (the reason why I've been able to still eat and drink, as if both sides were swollen like my right side, well, I'd be doing worse). If I'm able to go to the doctor sometime soon, I hope I remember to mention WNV and owning birds, even though I believe its only a bacterial infection after getting mono back in February...

The birds are doing fine though, but Bullet has been getting stuck outside, as I've been feeling too ill to go outside in the heat... Tonight is going to be a cold night.... Frozen towel on my face, and most likely a bag of ice on my throat.... If I do indeed have to leave the internet for some time, I better be able to come back to this forum with it looking and doing better than ever before! It's too great of a place to be torn down and put in the trash!

Monica, you live in the USA, right? And you are 16 right? There is no way that you should have no insurance. AFAIK, children under 18 are covered under a program called Chp (Children's health plan?) I think. You should go to your local public assistance office and see what is available to you. I know a lot of people are embarrased about this, but you as a child (legally a child - you're more adult in attitude than most people I know!) should not be - you are not required to support yourself. All you are required to do is learn and grow! No child in the USA can go without health care. Once you hit 18, it's a different story - they don't care. But under 18, you can definitely see a doctor and get prescriptions. Take care of yourself, dear. It totally sounds like you need antibiotics - I hate to hear that you are suffering. Will your mother help you to get some insurance from the government? If I was there I'd take you myself! Hugs to you and fids.

I agree with Michele. First of all, YOU are you mother's number one priority. If it turns out that you are ill and she FAILED to have you treated, she could be looking at LEGAL action. Do everyone a favor and make sure she knows how bad you feel. And, for the record, it sounds to me like your mono is back. It can recur for many, many years. Don't play around with it, its serious business.

Does sound like mono or some such. Very sorry to hear you're not feeling well Super Birdgirl. I hope you take the ladies' advice and get proactive about getting seeing a doctor. Take care, and keep us posted.

Don't let anything get in the way of your health. Most important thing in life that anyone has, IMO, is their health so I know you are a real SMART person & will do what you have to to get back in shape. My best wishes to ya, we are all pulling for ya to get completely well ASAP.

I had the same symptoms you did....turned out to be a bacterial sinus infection that had spread to my lungs because I let it go so long....
GO GET IT CHECKED OUT!

Smallonion, I did have insurance, but it recently got cancelled by the company... The insurance company was suppose to automatically take money from my mothers account, but it didn't, so they cancelled my insurance, so my mother said it'll be a few days before she'll be able to get me to the docs because she has to deal with the insurance company first... As for CHP, I'm not sure about myself, but my mother said that she doesn't qualify for it as she makes too much money (which is being spent mainly on the house and bills atm...). I really hadn't bothered to ask her any sooner to take me, and didn't make such a big deal as she's one of those who believes that if you start doing better, there is no reason to go to the doctors... I'm doing worse so now its time for me to go, if she can get everything straightened out....

If I believed that this was mono, then my mother quite possibly would not take me back because mono is a virus, like the cold, has no cures... I had to go to two doctors to find out that I had mono, and the second doctor said that there was nothing that he could do, and that he suggested icy foods for me to eat. He also said that I'd be suffering for up to 2 (maybe 3) weeks... Add to that, when someone has mono (or strep throat), their tonsils get swollen, and a white substance appears at the back of their throat. I got that the first time, though, for the past 2 months I've been keeping on eye on my throat, and so far, only swelling has occured, so my best guess is a bacterial infection, but will have to also mention mono. Oh, and icy foods are not helping this time like they did back in February, as that is what "cured" mono then...

BirdzRmylife, my mother will be bringing two digital cameras with her to NZ... one of them is our old digi cam that uses floppy disks... She is giving this to my sister so that she can use it, but my sister doesn't know that yet. She bought a new camera though, that stores the pictures on a memory card, and then is transferred via USB cable to the computer... So I'm sure there will be lots of pics, but most likely of people, plants, and maybe some scenery...
