Joel, I think they took your advice. No casualties last night. :( This means another day and night my babies are in jail-for their own protection. :( .

BTW, I live in an inner city suburb (about 6 miles/11km from CBD) so it would be a very long drive to find any suitable non-inhabited area to release them even if I could find one of those traps you are talking about-just not practical and I have a "gas guzzler" too-a '94 Ford Fairmont.

Sorry, but I luv ya anyway!

What is CBD? ..........Hey, ya can catch them and keep in a holding pen and feed a healthy diet and when ya have a few then ya can take the 6 mile or more drive and release them. I do that and I have a gas guzzler too. Or ya can just release them at your mother-in-law's house (LOL)......

I know, now everyone KNOWS FOR SURE that I'm a "WHACKO".

Don't be giving her more ideas now Steven. :(

That is killing them too, in an indirect way, even more terrorizing for them........ :(

Don't mind me y'all!!!!!....From a real softie that is now even starting to watch where I walk so I don't step on the ants on the way to the car.......

Hey maybe I should find a Cuckoo clock/bird for my Avatar also.

CBD= Central Business District--downtown where all the major office/gov't/etc are located. There are plenty of two legged rats there already so I don't think they would appreciate getting more of the 4 legged variety.

Still no luck. :(

The bushland area would be more like 20 miles from me if I was being considerate and not dumping them onto someone else's property or into a public park where people go for picnics, football, etc. We also have native birds to consider-I don't want to dump rats into bushland where they could go after nests, eggs, hatchlings in the bush. :(

No mother-in-law, my husband's parents have passed on, most of his rellies are in the Cook Islands but I get on well with most of them! :)

I suppose I could pack them all into a box and ship them over to Joel to do with as he sees fit! Just send me your address in a PM

I'm a softie too when it comes to birds, but not where rats are concerned-they are far too destructive and seem to serve no useful purpose. If I had been Noah's wife in a former life I would have tossed them off the Ark-along with other creepy crawlies, ants and mozzies, snakes (sorry Steven but they scare the S#$% outta me). I have to come over there somday and follow Joel around when he does his errands-the mental image of him tiptoeing around the sidewalk to avoid stepping on ants--too funny!

Hmmmm--I saw some rats for sale in a pet shop for $6 each, maybe I could make a few $$$ outta this!

Monday morning, back to work, another day in jail for the birds.

lol

LOL Tiki, throw them off the boat!

And even if ya did throw the snakes off, their would still be the aquatic species, and the rest would still swim to shore

Hope ya catch those dang rats(Humanely of course for Joels sake, lol)!

Have a good day,
Steven

PS: Tiki what are you baiting the traps with?

...I was going to suggest that you do ship them to me (your expense :) ) but if any of the local authorities got wind of that, I'm sure I would be up the creek without a paddle so to speak.

Don't take to pet shop, whack em if ya have to but no selling to be dropped into a snake "pit" with no chance of escape. (P.P. :( ) Just too terrorizing IMO.

The CBD sounds like your/their best bet from all ya say.

Btw, what's a "mozzie"? :?

Mosquito. No worries about the postage and I'm sure a paddle can be arranged as well!

Steven, I've been putting peanut butter on the bait holder thingie and sprinkling a bit of seed and shredded cheese to lead them onto the trap. They stole one bait, left 4 behind, also one glue trap was disturbed but didn't get anything. :( I rang a pest control service here but all they do is basically put out poison baits which is what I am doing already.

Sea-snakes-I was scuba diving in Niue a few years ago, there were sea snakes all over the place, I was never so scared in my life! Even though their mouths are too small to bite a human!
