This type of thing is very frightening. It shows a lack of feeling, empathy and compassion in whoever created it.
It is an example of how living things in our society become "objectified" and no longer of worth or value. No, it's not "just a joke". There is nothing humorous about a small animal being portrayed this way. I taught my kids that they need to really think about things- especially what passes for humor or "jokes" these days. It's amazing how cruel and degrading "humor" can be. Always look to the "right' and stand up for what is just and fair. I make it a point to let anyone who accosts me with a "joke" that is utterly humorless and cruel and gets it's "laughter" at the expense of another person or group (including helpless animals) know what I think of them. I remember my first day on a new job during the first US/Gulf war. A coworker brought in a stack of "Arab" so called jokes. I walked away with no comment, and she persisted and wanted to know if I liked them. I said, no, there is nothing funny about degrading an entire race of people. War is not funny, and many on both sides are dying. Yeah, I was real popular on that job! :o) NOT! But, I stood for my principles and that is what was important. There is lot's of humor in life, but not at the expense of others. This is a small way to work for peace daily. Linda In CA |
