Florida people

Ok I am asking here since we are all bird people and some participate on other Boards or are in bird clubs in Florida.

I don't have last names yet but I am looking for two bird people that were in Charley's way. If you recognize the names or birds and have heard from either of these people please let me know.

Looking for a lady named Chris. She lived near the area where Charley made landfall. She has a teenage son and two birds an amazon and a sun conure named Tango and Koobah.

Looking for a breeder named Dick. He lived and had an aviary on Sanibel Island

We are just very concerned for these people and want to know if they are OK.

There were photos of Charley's destruction in the paper yesterday-a town called Porto Gordo (I think). It looks horrible! I hope your friends are OK, and I think it is a wonderful thing that you are doing to help birds made homeless (your other thread). I wish I could help more-a bit hard to do from where I live though-too far. :(

Thanks everyone. One of the people we were worried over checked in. Still waiting to hear if Dick is heard from though.

Tiki the town was Punta Gorda. Sounds just like it is spelled. They got the direct hit. Thanks about the birds. I will need help if they need to be medicated , sure you don't want a Florida vacation? Nice and warm here this time of year >beg<

I would love to come to Florida and help but I already allocated my leave this year-and we have non-refundable tickets to go to Istanbul and Dubai in October-which I purchased months ago.

You do have a good idea though because in Australia we have problems like bushfires that lead to birds (and people) of course being displaced and the season is coming up. Maybe we can organize our own rescue thing down here. Last year there were horrible fires in Canberra and New South Wales.

That is a good idea Tiki. Let me know if you do. Just remeber to try to set up something with local bird supply shops to collect donations by credit card and paypal. That way friends around the world can help.

I setup with a food and cage warehouse (Parrotmount) to collect donations for Parrots and my foster birds. They have recieved a call from as far away from germany and a someone from south africa faxed a donation. They were amazed.

Lynda, if you are able to take credit cards and have one of those secure server thingies like Amazon.com does-PM me the details. It has to be an official site though with some way to check up on it as I get nervous about doing things online and normally only deal with very well-known businesses that are tried and true. Can't promise much but I will do what I can. We don't have international Paypal here-this issue came up before when I wanted to order something from someone in the USA-doesn't work with Australian accounts.
