Akita & Pups - An Update

The mother has been doing better each day. She's being more easy when it comes to feeding hands to her! LOL She is learning 'easy' and not quite inhaling food so much... The pups on the other hand, well they inhale food so fast two of them have actually choked... The smaller pup was fine, a few good pats on the back... The big white pup though, well I had to stick my fingers down his throat a couple times.

As far as the akita and the cats... Well, as long as the cats don't run she wont chase them... Otherwise, they are seen sitting or laying near eachother! When it comes to the pups, well they are just too much excitement for the cats to handle! Bullet enjoys being around the mother, though he growls at the pups (no aggressive behavoir beyond growling, and we've been keeping Bullet away from the pups for the most part anyway).

I still haven't let the mother go see the birds so I don't know what her reaction to them would be. In the least bit though, although she'll *bounce* or *shove* (somewhat of both, but not quite), or bark or howl when she wants food (which is, btw, all the time!) she's becoming more mannered and isn't going after food as much as she used to. If food is left out though, she still needs to be watched!

In the least bit, the pups have been looking a little bit pit lately, and the two white pups have been changing color, mainly the little white one...







On another note, the big white pup was taken to his new home today! Hopefully he'll do fine, and I'll get updates on him!

Awwwwwww..... Monica..... they are adorable. I am glad I don't live close to you or one of those would be coming here to TooVille! I have such a big heart for such cute little faces........

Nope! Two people are interested in the brown pup, we are keeping the white pup, and the mother is undecided...

Monica, everyone looks wonderful. You have done a great job. OHHHH, I am so tempted to wish I had another dog. Mom, is so beautiful. Do they all have names?

They only have nicknames...

Mum
Chewey (the one we gave away)
Somethin along the lines of 'whiner'
Brownie

The nicks though were made up by a friend, cept for Mum/Mom akita... If we keep her and name her, she'd probably need a name that starts with a 'K'. Not sure why, but she seems like a "K" type of doggy! My sis and I have discussed possible names for the white pup but haven't settled anything yet... She was last thinking Kodi or a different spelling of that name...

Ooooh, Monica - there is definitely a bit o' pit in those pups - I'd recognize those "helicopter ears" anywhere!

We've got a boxer/pit cross that is just a wonderful dog (as long as you are not a chicken - which she hates). Since we can't call her a boxer, and she's not quite an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) we have chosen to call her an APBJ - short for "American Peanut Butter and Jelly" Dog.

Cute, cute pups - maybe they'll grow up to be APBJs, too!
