ya know your from New Jersey...........

You don't think of citrus when people mention "The Oranges."

You know that the only people who call it "Joisey" are from New York (usually The Bronx) or Texas.

You know that it's called "Great Adventure," not "Six Flags."

You've ordered a hard roll with butter for breakfast.

You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.

You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned or drunk, at 3 am.

Whenever you park, there's a Camaro within three spots of you.

You remember that the "Two Guys" were from Harrison.

You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery.

You know what a "jug handle" is.

You know that a WaWa is a convenience store.

You know that the state isn't all farmland.

You know that there are no "beaches" in new Jersey - there's "The Shore," and you know that the road to the shore is "The Parkway" not "The Garden State Highway."

You know that "Piney" isn't referring to a tree.

Even your school cafeteria made good Italian subs, and, you call it a "sub" not a "submarine sandwich" or worse yet, a "hoagy" or a "hero."

You remember the song from the Palisades Park commercials.

You know how to properly negotiate a Circle.

You knew that the last question had to do with driving.

You know that "Acme" is an actual store, not just a Warner Bros creation.

You know that this is the only "New..." state that doesn't require "New" to identify it (like, try ...Mexico, ...York, ...Hampshire (doesn't work, does it?).

You know how to translate this conversation: "Jeet yet?" "No, Jew?"

You only go to New York City for day trips, and you only call it "The City."

You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a fast food sandwich.

Yo u consider a corned beef sandwich with lettuce and mayo a sacrilege.

In the 80's you wore your hair REALLY high.

You don't think "What exit" (do you live near?) is very funny.

You know that the real first "strip shopping center" in the country is Route 22.

You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton - that's for out-of-staters.

The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.

You can see the Manhattan skyline from some part of your town.

You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of Willowbrook Mall.

You've eaten a Boardwalk cheesesteak with vinegar fries.

You have a favorite Atlantic City casino.

You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.

You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.

Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.

You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening credits.

You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights, and people from Central Jersey go to Belmar and people from South Jersey go to Wildwood.

You weren't raised in New Jersey -- you were raised in either North Jersey, Central Jersey or South Jersey.

You don't consider Newark , Lodi or Camden to actually be part of the state.

You remember the stores Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's, Channel, Bamberger's and Orbach's.

You also remember Palisades Park.

You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.

You've never pumped your own gas.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from New Jersey.

Oh my gosh a circle that was a nightmare!!! We are from Missouri and went to New Jersey in September. Well lets just say I am sure it was not New Jerseys fault but that was a vacation from HE--!!

First of course here in Missouri if you want to make a left turn you get in the left lane or the turning lane at an intersection and make a left turn. In New Jersey if you want to make a left turn you get in the right lane go about half a mile past where you want to turn, turn right, turn back right and basically circle back around until you are on the opposite side of the road and can the make a right turn into wherever you were wanting to go. I am sure for people who are used to it, it is quite simple for us Missourians We were near Point Pleasant we stopped at a Toys are Us. It was on the right side of the road, easy enough. We spotted the mall right across the street, should be easy huh?! Yeah it took us over 45 minutes to go through traffic around several circles until we could get across the street. Heck I could have walked over and back in less time, no I take that back there was a huge fence down the middle of the road so you couldn't walk across even if you wanted to.

Then again not New Jersey's fault but it sure made the vacation bad our transmission goes out. We get a transmission shop to look at it, luckily they are able to get it right in since we are supposed to be heading out the next morning. Only problem?? They fix it and as they test drive it some idiot lady decides it is her turn to "circle" even though she is in the wrong lane and smashes into the front of our van. After having a new tire and wheel put on we are able to drive our now mangled van back to Missouri. Oh almost forgot on the turnpike we stopped at one of those service plaza areas and my husband's cell phone was ripped off as he walked in the door, never got it back or caught the person who did it.

After getting back home we were driving down the road (this is before van is fixed) of course we still had the tire on they had to replace before coming home. The replacement tire blows and takes out the side mirror plus damages the fender on that side which hadn't already been damaged by the wreck.

Now it has been over 1 1/2 months we are still jumping through hoops to get their insurance to cover our van that was after waiting three weeks for their police department to file the report so we could get a copy. Their insurance finally had an appraiser come (after I sent them two estimates) the appraiser actually said there was more damage then the body shops did. And now we are waiting and waiting and waiting LOL

Anyway nothing against New Jersey but that had to be the absolute vacation from HE--!! Oh I almost forgot don't go by pics on website as far as hotels go. We looked up on their website found a great hotel in the area. Well let's just say the photo must have been from 20 years ago and they haven't changed their decore since. The air conditioners didn't work (it was close to 100 every day we were there) The beds felt like concrete and had worn out cover etc on them and of course on renting you sign a no refund contract. What fun right LOL!!!!

Oh Lisa!!! That's hysterical. I know exactly what you were talking about and you had me laughing out loud. I'm a native NYer and have had ample opportunity to experience NJ.

The highways are numbers is so true. I went to see a friend who had recently moved to NJ and she was in NY for years. It didn't take her long to assimilate because when she gave me directions she told me to take 46. So I'm driving 95 but I'm at exit 117, thinking I have to go to exit 46. And, all I kept thinking was,"but, she told me she was so close to "The City"." When I called her, she said, "No, rte 46." I cursed her and Joisy.

Thanks for the laugh.
