Question How to start an Email account

I would like to know how to start an email account so I can have my own account on Bird Board instead of posting on my mom's signature. Does anybody know how?

Do you mean you would like to register and get your own account to post? Just click on the log out button in the upper right hand corner, then follow the directions to register as a new user. See you soon!!

There are 3 big free email providers: I used to have one of each, but now I just use gmail and yahoo. They're always improving the service with more storage space and stuff. The hardest part is choosing a username nobody else has already taken, so get creative :)
Hotmail,
Gmail, and
Yahoo.

I'm not sure how it works now for kids, but you might need to have your mom help you confirm that you're over a certain age. It'll tell you if you need that. Good luck and let us know if you have any trouble.

I recommend either Hotmail or G-mail. I've never used G-Mail but I've heard it's great. I DO NOT recommend yahoo at all! Too much spam.... and it's all because of yahoo itself.... There's also AOL. I don't really care for it but it's not a bad e-mail address to have.

Spam doesn't come because of Yahoo, as you'll notice if you sign up for an account and don't actually use it. Yahoo's spam blocker is pretty good, though not as good as Gmail's.

Being a professional computer nerd, I would highly recommend Gmail. Hotmail is ok but Gmail is very easy to use, has better features and more flexibility now. I've also never had problems with junk mail in my Gmail account either. Sometimes it does get through with Hotmail. Holler or PM if you have questions. :)

I get LOADS of spam with gmail... and I'm not just talking about the messages that automatically make it to the spam file. Must be my luck ;)

I've had accounts with hotmail, aol, yahoo and gmail. My favorite is hotmail but that's b/c I like things to be simple... plus I prefer the news & features through MSN to those with yahoo.

Gmail is very popular and I'm likely the only person in the US (if not the world) who isn't an uber-fan ;)

4HAND -- just make sure that it's OK w/ your parents that you have your own e-mail account!

Eliza I am not a gmail fan either... its hard to navigate (for me, in comparison to 'traditional' setups) and I am constantly losing things because I can't figure out how to set up folders!
