Going to visit...

in SC tomorrow!!!! We are going to Bird Love Rescue, to meet Dana (TooHaven) and Jo. Jo has 2 Millies, a few B&G's and my favorite 2 Scarlets!!!!

Happy dance, I get to play with more macaws!!!!!!! Dana is intimidated by macaw beaks (handles ticked off Toos all the time though LOL!!!) I am determined to get her to hold a macaw tomorrow!!

wildirish, how fun! Have a great time :-).

I notice you're fostering a Mitred Conure. Are they nice birds? I've always admired their beauty, and once saw a massive flock of them (I imagine they were wild-caught) in a pet store (at least 20 years ago), but I've never known anything about them except that they're beautiful....

Mitreds are much like cherry heads, and sometimes they are confused for one another. There is a wild flock of cherry heads and some hybrid mitred/cherry heads in San Fransisco. Mark Bittner wrote a book about them which also became a film. I have the book, but I don't have the DVD yet. I've seen part of the flock though in person! I'd have to say though, that the person that knows the most about the red and green conures in general would be Mark Bittner because he has studied them. Some may differ slightly in personality and temperaments but he's been able to get a view of them from his own balcony (many of the flock members knew him and would eat seeds from him and perch on him).

I have a cherry head of my own, but she is so unlike many other cherry heads out there that I was glad to see part of the flock in person to find out how they truely are when they are loving life and just enjoy being birds! It is truely an amazing experience...

Unfortunately it doesn't look like we are going, I just woke up to a winter wonderland. And boy is it coming down good!!!!

The roads are clear now, but we are worried about 10-12 hours from now trying to get back home. They are calling for 5-7 inches, so I guess we are gonna run to the store stock up and sit tight.

We will go another weekend.

Tammy, I will never forget that drive from your place to Jan's. Even back in Nov there was snow on the ground, I can't imagine what it must be like now!
