sad day for my foster kitten

I'm so sorry to hear about Samantha! I'm glad that she got to spend her last few months in an excellent home where she knew she was loved.

I grieve with you, having known the pain of loss more times than I care to count. Believe in The Bridge--and know that Samantha is playing on the other side with our Angel Kitty (wild kitten caught, 3 days of comfort, but too far gone for the vets to save after we found her in an abandoned property) and waiting for the only people who ever showed her what it meant to be loved.

thank you to everyone who has expressed their condolences for her. I am still very sad tonight and find myself listening to hear the bell on her collar indicating that she is coming up out of the basement for dinner.

My boyfriend took a beautiful picture of her this morning. I am going to frame it and hang it up here in the Beach Bungalow.

Samantha went to Heaven about 2 hours ago. The vet said her bladder was even bigger than it was yesterday and that she was in considerable pain from it. Her walking had deteriorated to the point that she was falling over on her side.

I stayed with her until she fell into a coma. I squatted down so I was eye-level with her on the table and she snuggled up against me which she had never done before. It was peaceful, more peaceful than I had thought it would be.

She lived for 8 months: 2 as a stray kitten outside, 3 in a tiny shelter cage with 4 other kittens, and the last 3 here in my home--running free, eating lots of good food, playing with other cats, and living a relaxed life.

I may not have been able to ultimately save her from being put to sleep but I was able to allow her to live the life that every cat should know.

Awww I'm tearing up, I'm soooooooo sorry for you and your kitty, you did the best thing for her. I've been in your shoes when I had to put my beautiful Jetan dog to sleep at only 4 years old. I had just had a human baby and my first adopted child (the dog) got cancer. My heart truly goes out to you now, I know how you must be feeling. Please PM me if you need someone to talk to. I really want to help you get through this whether it's just telling me stories about her or whatever. I mean it! Also know that you gave her a life she could never have had without you. - Lori

What a beautiful face little Samantha has - it's good you have this picture - you can actually see the love in her eyes - I'm sure she's waiting for you at the Bridge. Let your heart rest knowing you gave her what she needed. Lori
