Ms. Cookie's previous owners............
My female U2, Ms. Cookie, was given to me by a dear friend. We actually got to know each other through my work, where Ms. Rose came one day, holding a beautiful parrot purse. I remarked on the purse, and we have become wonderful friends since then. Anywho, Ms. Rose and her hubby are getting up there in age, and so they gave me Ms. Cookie. Ms. Rose has been over many times to see Ms. Cookie, and today she brought hubby with her. Ms. Cookie was originally hubby's bird and he was a bit upset that Ms. Rose had given her away. The visit today was wonderful, and hubby got to see all the birds and how spoiled they are.
By the way, I am now the owner of that beautiful parrot purse that brought us together.............. ![]()

How nice that the previous owners can have the assurance that the bird is being well taken care of!
I got Kukito from a friend also. I had just lost my little budgie and was not planning to get another bird so soon. Besides, I had just rescued a cat that showed up at my door, but when I heard of this friend's dilemma, I could not say no... Kukito is a Sun Conure and it was given to her by her husband as a gift. She raised Kukito since she was a tiny baby - she remebers waking up several times at night to feed him and so forth. After five years, her husband passed away and a couple of years later, she met this other gentleman and re-married. The problem is that the new husband did not like Kukito. He did not mind the other bird - an amazon and the two little dogs but told her Kukito had to go. He even made arrangements to put him in a pet store to be sold! She was devastated! :( Between us... if it was me, I would get rid of the husband in a second!!!! :) I was reluctant at first, but when I heard about the pet store thing, I went right over and took the bird. It took almost a month and a lot of patience for Kukito to trust me, but now I'm his second mom. About six months after she gave me the bird, we met at a common friend's house (without the husband) and I took Kukito. It was like he's never been apart from her. It was so cute!!!! I was impressed! The bond was strong as ever!!! I put myself on her place and I am glad I can provide a new home for Kukito and make sure she does continue to have contact with her baby. |
