I understand where you are coming from Laurie. But I would miss you if you did not post. Might take me a week but I would eventually notice.

I feel like the odd one out sometimes. I also feel like I can't post freely about my birds for fear of someone picking my post apart. That makes me more hesitant about being open here and responding to newbie questions.

I have never found a " freindly " message board. They all seems to have the fights and the " special little groups". I deal with it, help who I can and just shut up on the rest. I have to say though I have stuck around this message board alot longer than I have the rest of them. This one is at least a bit more friendly.

I agree with you, Laurie, and I would certainly miss you. If I knew how to do it, I'd say let's ceceed and start a new board like this one used to be... I'm tired. In the past 2 weeks I've had at least 2 questions about birds go unanswered, even when I asked for clarification. I'm not giving up my membership, but I'm going to my other boards where we just talk about birds.

Going nuts right now, just was about finished with probably the most important post I have come up with so far and it got lost in cyberspace........I accidentally hit the back button & it took off!!!!!!!! I wish we could somehow prevent mistakes like that happening like have a pop up window or something to ask us: Are ya sure you want to delete this or make us double click or triple click something before it has a chance to disappear.

Kevin, know what I'm talking about and any way to safeguard posts from unintentionally being deleted or lost?

Wow, I don't even know what to say. I found this board and visit it everyday. I don't have many birds and the birds I have I haven't had for very long. I also didn't know that birds can eat so many things, not just seeds. I have learned so much here. I have posted a few questions here and they were immediately answered. I really appreciate the people that share their knowledge with me. I know from the replies I will become a better bird person. I do not post any answers to many of the questions because I have not come across any of those problems with my birds. I do know that if I did ever have any problems I would at least have an idea on how to handle them. I hope this board never disappears, and that none of the members ever leave, they will be missed. Some of us just don't post it very often.

Sheeze, where to start AGAIN?

Censorship sucks IMO unless there is a blatant disregard for the rules and an obvious intent to destroy a board or forum or if nasty vulgar language is used.

We have something here for everyone with birds being the primary bond. If ya aren't interested in a thread, topic, joke, arguement etc. then STAY OUT OF THAT THREAD/AREA. ((((((PLEASE!!!!))))))......We have the Lounge for general current events & O.T. stuff (of a normal nature); we have species specific categories for those with certain specific species of pets/breeders; we have a Photo section; we have "In Memory Of"; we have Bird Talk; we have "Ask the Experts"; AND WE HAVE THE "CAN". What more do y'all want? Ya want everyone around here to wear a HALO ? Get REAL!!!!!! This board reflects life in general & people in general, we are all different with different interests, people argue, disagree, fight, kiss up, joke etc........ That's Life once again!!!!


I see that a poor job (IMO) - (sorry mods) has been done with moving posts to where they belong and deleting posts after awhile that are non-bird related with no real useful info. of any kind in them. If the current mods are tired of doing that or are just not interested in that task or do not have the time or do not want to make the time THEN WHY NOT allow someone who is willing to help out, DO IT????????? I already said I will volunteer to be official JANITOR or whatever ya want to call it around here (if no-one else wants it). If I do a poor job, give to someone else.

I do also think we should put up some "Sticky Threads/Categories" that can't be removed that will cover all the basic info. for the Newbies like: What to feed your bird, cage size, breeding info., handfeeding info. etc. etc. as repeating the same ole basic stuff over & over again can become quite boring for some if not most of the other members but mostly for the one giving the info........We also even have John's phone number posted on his site so if ya trust him and need some free medical advice etc. ya can always call him.

Some of ya are just so intent on proper welcoming procedures for newbies that I suggest you all join up and start an official welcoming committee instead of expecting everyone else to jump on the newbies & smother them to death with kisses and sweet talk. We all can't be everything to everyone. We all have our fields of experience and share what we have with all the members but some of us don't have the time to answer everyone in every thread about everything etc.

For those of ya that want a no nonsense bird board that stays on topic most of the time and where everyone is sugar sweet to everyone, then WHY DON'T YA go join Nancy's board (if she welcomes you). She is a great person with a wonderful warm heart and who runs a fine excellent board without all this banter and "spicy-ness" etc..........There are other boards like that too, so if those kind make ya the happiest, then why not go there quickly maybe & stay there? Or like was suggested, get together & start your own board and rule with an IRON FIST!!!!!.............(Sorry Keev & Kevin, I'm not trying to shoo anyone away but gosh darn, this crying all the time definitely needs to stop and IMO not by censoring the O.T. or off the wall type stuff or the fun type stuff).

Nancy is still a member of this board and drops in from time to time to see if she can be of assistance and would help out anytime, I'm sure, if called upon by anyone. She chose to move on for personal reasons etc. as did Crebain and Jill and others too. The board misses many people for various reasons but IMO will NOT DIE because of their loss. So shake ups like this we see here lately are sometimes needed to release tension etc....... Obviously there was too much pent up tension IMO and Mt. Saint BirdBoard has erupted. Big Deal. Things will cool off again until next time. That's life so everyone get a grip and let's move on. IMO, like many have said THIS BOARD is still the BEST.

Keeve & Kevin rule here and if they feel John or Savvy or me or anyone else needs to go or is not welcome here or needs to cool it, then I think they should pm that person and/or ban if necessary. If they aren't sure then maybe we should have an anonymous vote to ban certain members?

Maybe we should all also VOTE for our mods/administrators from a list of members interested in becoming one if y'all aren't happy with the current ones? Maybe we should have re-elections too, anonymous would probably be best IMO?

Ok, I'm done. I wish I didn't lose my other post though, as that one covered more and was less out of frustration.........Got to head out for the store now so if anyone wants to discuss some of my points with me, I'll be back in a couple hrs......

Listen....I will be the first to admit that this is true....I am fairly new to birds as well...I am learning myself......I read books, I take what the knowledgeable people of this board say VERY seriously....but I am a very humble person...It would kill me if I gave someone mis-information and it was detramental to the health of their fids....I originally came here to learn the most I possibly could about birds and I completely feel that there are many more qualified people here to answer most questions....I know I could and should interact more...thats probably true in my personal life as well.....I will definately try to improve on this........

I'm glad you had the time to type all that because I wouldn't on a lunch break. Well said!!! There are many bird forums out there, I chose this one BECAUSE of the friendliness, banter and colourful personalities-amongst fellow bird lovers. You have different personalites in any group, for example the PTA. After the meeting where people talk about the school and their kids, there will be certain groups who bond together to swap recipes, talk sports or just kid around with each other. Our version is Bird Recipes (I can't cook if my life depends on it), the Lounge and the CAN. What is wrong with that? I think it works well and there is something for everyone.

BTW, Nancy's hubby is in the hospital, that's why she isn't so active. AFAIK she isn't angry at anyone.
