Thumbs up Found Something That Cleans The Floors

We're all concerned about our birds and what we use to clean their cages and floors and such. Most things we mop with could be harmful to them. I bought a Swiffer Jet Mop the other day. The cleaner you use in, Has No Scent to it. I of course removed the birds from room when i was cleaning first. I mopped their room and you could N O T smell anything in the air! And it cleans pretty dang good. Just thought I would share.

Just a note, even if it doesn't have a smell to you doesn't mean that it's not harmful to them...

I have used the WetJet with the multipurpose cleaner, antibacterial cleaner, and hardwood floor cleaner. They all have pretty strong scents.

I do use them occasionally still but I make sure that there are windows open, the exhaust fan is running in the kitchen, and that Scarlett is on the other end of the house with the door closed.

I've been using the Swiffer products, all of them, since they first came out, with no problems whatsoever, and with the windows closed. I like the Wet Jet and use it in the kitchen a lot. Its really not adequate for the big bird room. There I still have to use the bucket, mop and cleaner routine. I usually use GSE and water or Clorox and water in there.

It's funny b/c my great-aunt was born here in NJ but lived in Bolivia for 30 or 40 years. There they keep Amazons and Macaws like we keep cats and dogs.

I was telling her that it was quite an adjustment to have to stop and reconsider all of the cleaning products I use and the candles I love. She looked at me like I was nuts. She said they are stronger than we give them credit for being.

She also lived in a pretty mild climate where the windows were almost always open.

I use a steam mop for our pergo floors. I just have a keet and conure, but I do once a week cleaning (being the buisy college student I am it needs it! ). Any real sticky spots you just steam it for about 30 secs and it whipes clean! I don't have any big birdies so I wouldn't know about real bad poop, but it might work, anyone know?

The cool thing is, you only add water, though one problem with this product is that once you take the mop head off it shrinks since it's cotton so I dont always take them off, i re-use and just buy extras. a lotta bird poop might mean more of these things, not sure the prices right now but I know the target near me stocks them.
