Jim, I always thought everywhere in California was warm. Is 65 generally what the summers are like in your area?

mountains vs. valleys...

we went to Mt Washington in NH in 2002. It was august. We took my mustang up the mountain, with the roof off. I was TERRIFIED.
it was 85 at the base of the mountain, in the 40's up on top.
coming down, I laid down in the seat and held our camera out the window. I didnt dare look.
For those of you who have not ventured up the mountain, it is the highest peak in the north east. there are no guard rails and it is a dirt road constructed back in the early 1900's. It is wide enough to just barely fit two cars.(the lower area is paved, and has vegitation....everything disappears as you go up the mountain.)
There is a list of people that have died going up/down the mountain on the top. Only certain cars are allowed to travel this road. There is no vegitation at all on the top, just rock.
winds have been noted at speeds of 231 miles per hour!

It was about 34 (80?) here the other day but with the thunder storms and rain for 24hrs straight it was like a Turkish bath. Today was supposed to be hotter but the north winds are really helping + the air is nice & clean - the air smells of the woods up north too.
California is so lucky - well those North of LA! - hope the forest fires abate.

95 and humid here right now, the AC is having a hard time keeping the house cool. It will probably cool off to around 83 tonight.

It was 101 here on post yesterday. Not sure what the exact temp was today, but I'm sure it was close to that again. They're having a heat wave back in PA too, my parents said it was in the 90's the last couple of days. Heck, last year in PA we only had like 2 days that went above 90 and none the year before that.
