Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE)

has been detected in our town today, the first findings of the season in Massachusetts. Last year two deaths resulted in neighboring towns. Testing has been ongoing for the West Nile Virus with no findings yet.

No outside time for my parrots for the rest of Summer. We have thousands of acres of Cranberry Bogs in our town and surrounding towns with acres of standing water,a perfect breeding grounds for Mosquito's

Thanks for the heads-up, it seems like it took forever to get there.

Obviously you just don't talk enough, Joe :-).

I'm lucky to live in an area where WNV is very rare. Something about our climate, the experts speculate. Sounds wise to keep your birds indoors, though. I've seen cranberry bogs in WA state, near the coast, and they DO look like the perfect mosquito breeding ground.
