Rudeness on the Board

I think we need to address this and clarify once and for all what is expected from the posters here on Birdboard. When did it become OK to be rude and nasty around here? If you disagree with someones advice, please be courteous and either not respond or do so in a civilized way. Remember how you felt when someone belittled you? Well, how about pulling back when tempted to be discourteous.Do you really think that anyone will follow your learned advice if you first belittle them?

Look, its hard to listen to crazy and unintelligent ideas and not point out the obvious, but if you can simply state the facts, and be prepared to back it up with documentation you'll get your point across.

This past week, I had to send out 2 warnings. That's more than I have sent out in the last 2 months! I know that the other mods are getting sick of it too. So, be on notice, it won't be tolerated. If you can't be civilized, you won't be missed and that's a fact.

Thank you. Some of you are not only new to BB but new bird owners as well and truely need assistance. I have raised and weaned dozens of birds over the years and am still learning.

My time zone means I am often not around when drama is going on in the States, so Nancy and Laurie beat me to the warnings. For reference, the time you see on this post, its 6pm here and I just got home from work over here! It's probably 4 or 5 am in the States.

We do have a mod forum where issues are discussed, we vote and no one is banned unless the majority of us mods agree to it. We don't ban anyone unless they have ignored PM'd warnings and continued to be rude. We do ban spammers or outright trolls straight away.

We do want Birdboard to be fun, pleasant and educational for everyone. So please do offer advice, but do it in a pleasant, polite way!

I am happy to see this mentioned. I have refrained from posting very much because on another board I was "jumped on" so to speak and it has made me shy.
