I hope you all don't mind but, I'm trying to teach a "creative writing lesson" to my 8 year old daughter. I've been using some threads here as "reading lessons" for her since I joined.
She seen me typing my posts on various boards over the last few years, (but there weren't many boards that I would let her read the responses Anyway, here's the conversation: Sparrow Hawk/Lori-Anne: "Daddy I know this is a site for adults with questions about birds, but I see some of them have kids. I was wondering if you can you help me put something on the site." Buteo/Me:"Did you have a question about something to do with birds?" Sparrow Hawk/Lori-Anne: "Daddy, I know you say I'm full of questions, but that's not what I wanted. I was thinking of something that's more fun. I was looking over all those cartoon pictures you did for me. You did so many of them! I was just sitting in my room trying to name them all. I thought that would be a good game I could share with your friends on the site. *Name that toon*!!!" Buteo/Me:"That would be fine for the kids, but what about the adults?" Sparrow Hawk/Lori-Anne: "No no no silly. This is for the whole family. You see Daddy, I tell them this is for the adults to figure out, but..... since not many adults know the cartoons like you do,(LOL gee thanks kiddo!) they'll probably need to get their kids to help them. That way the whole family is involved!" ( Without any futher ado, here's my daughter's post: "Hi everyone. Since my Daddy is Buteo, I've chosen the nickname "Sparrow Hawk" or you can just call me Lori-Anne. Here's a bunch of cartoons my Daddy did last year for me and the members of my Beavers troop. They're from cartoon tv shows that are on now or from the last 2 years. You're doing good if ya can name the show they're from, but you're reallllllllly good if you can name the characters themselves! ![]() Those of you with younger kids should be able to get this pretty easy. ***It's Ok if you grown-ups need to get hints from your kids or you watch the shows yourself.*** Page 1 has 19 faces from six different shows. Page 2 has 12 figures. Page 3 has 6 faces &/or figures. Page 4 has 7 faces &/or figures. Page 5 has 10 faces &/or figures. Good luck everybody!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hope ya have fun. (About the pics: Page 2: If you don't recoginze these characters, you've been living on another planet for the last 5 years. Page 5: The Beavers asked for me to do ones in color and the only thing I had at the time were magic markers and the colors didn't come out a clean as I'd have liked. Buteo / Jim)

Oh how very cool. I like this idea a lot and dalthough I don't have any kids that watch cartoons, doesn't mean that they aren't being watched.
It's the birds favorite channel and we watch it together all the time, lol. Some of these are real easy and others are kimpossible What a great idea. Thank you.
