Hey all, just an update!!

First, I want to say THANK YOU to all the members here who have helped me through the last few months. The support and prayers mean more than I can say. **group hug**

I'm happy to announce that I had my final chemo on the 26th. My last external radiation was that same morning. I'm now preparing for HDR Brachy Therapy. This is an "internal" radiation therapy that will be given once a week for 3 weeks. Starting on Aug 2nd. After that just 1 more trip to the OR to have my chest port removed...scheduled for Sept 7th--as long as the bloodwork is all clear...which it hasn't been a problem thus far. They told me I have bone marrow of steel! lol

Harvey is doing good. While his one shoulder is now bald, he hasn't moved to any other areas of his body (that I can tell) and seems to be allowing the new feathers to grow in normally.

Gypsy is screaming a bit more than normal...but I'm sure this is just frustration of being locked up for the past 6 weeks. I'm hoping that once I get the "ok" on the blood work I can work on bringing them out again. That should take another 2 weeks.

Now, for those of you who have gone through similar experiences...did you notice any problems when you resumed handling your fids? Did it seem like you had to "rebond" with them in any way? I think Harvey will be ok. But I'm worried Gypsy might be a little more rebellious (typical redhead ). Any suggestions for when the time comes?? I'm really really ready to hold y babies again and I can't wait to go see my dogs. It's been about 3 weeks since I last managed to see them. The treatments keep me pretty well wiped out on the weekends. I'm hoping that with having 2 days extra off of radiation that this weekend will be a bit better and I can get over to see them.

I CAN'T WAIT TO HAVE MY LIFE BACK!!!

I didn't have birds when I had cancer, so I can't answer your questions. However, my birds are always just happy to see me. They don't hold grudges. They can be a bit too enthusiastic, but that's about all. In all likelihood, you will a bit of attitude followed by tons of hugs and kisses. They MISS you!

So glad the worst is over. Its hell having cancer and trying to live a normal life. Still, its what you have to do to get it back. As always, you are in my prayers.

I'm glad things are getting better. I never had to deal with chemo so I can't speak about that. But once things are settled, you will feel so free when you realize you don't have to go down the "Ladies aisle" at the supermarket!

So good to hear from you and that you're doing better and looking forward to the days ahead of you. Your fids might be a little standoffish at first sight but I betcha after thirty minutes they will be all over ya with glee at your presence.
Keep up the enthusiasm, we're all pulling for ya...
