Tattoo Opinion!!
I am going to get a tattoo on my arm to cover another that I got when I was a kid. I am going to get a bird, but the question is, What kind of bird?? I am open to suggestions everyone. I am thinking a scarlet, but not sure.

Also i would find a good artist because it is hard to "capture" the face of a parrot....and if dont incorrectly it will look horrible. |

I wouldn´t have a parrot done on me unless i see a parrot previously done by the same artist. I so agree with Dustin that most parrot tattoos out there are abysmal. In any case i wouldn´t do one as a coverup it won´t work. I have two myself (coverups) and on both you can still see the original beneath.. in one case it´s more like a relief of a butterfly beneath a celtic knotwork.

Susan, I never figured that out. I always thought a rainbow symbolized multi-culturalism as in different races and ethnicities.

My current tattoo is a broken heart with a cowboy hat on it with rope coming down a little ways on my arm. I have pretty little arms, so it looks big. I was thinking a scarlet, because most of it is red. And I am not even sure I want to trust anyone else with my arm.

adugan - Make sure that you take your time when researching cover-ups. By time I mean visiting SEVERAL artists and viewing their cover-up portfolios. Trust me -- I speak from experience ;)
That said, it's best that you find a design or image that you like. This is your body. And unless you want to spend thousands of dollars and multiple sessions under a laser, a tattoo is forever. Quote:
The rainbow flag has become the easily-recognized colors of pride for the g** community. The multicultural symbolism of the rainbow is nothing new — Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition also embraces the rainbow as a symbol of that political movement. The rainbow also plays a part in many myths and stories related to gender and sexuality issues in Greek, Native American, African, and other cultures. FWIW, many folks in the G/L/B/T community have adopted the SONG "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" of an anthem of sorts. Whether it's b/c the song has the rainbow in it, the story in the lyrics or b/c Judy Garland sings it is speculation at best. Maybe that's where you confusion stems from. Enjoy your tattoo -- there's nothing offensive about being G/L/B/T... or about having a rainbow tattoo. -e-
