I live next to a dog breeder and he is a human doctor!
He say's put 50/50 white vinegar and water. The vineger Kills the yeast. Do this once a week. Btw, my daugter gets swimmers ear alot! He told us to do this with her after every swim. It worked, not one case all summer!!!

Thanks guys! I'm going to stop by and clean it out tomorrow. I'll call the vet, but if I can fix this without having to take her in, I'd rather do that. Money is tight, it's there if need be, but they also have their general shots due in about 2 months. With my own medical bills rolling in now...well hopefully I can fix it at home!

If you are seeing black specks, your dog has ear mites. Go to Petsmart and get some mite cream to put in the ear canal and clean it often. You'll need long handled Q tips to clean out the canal. Mites cause itching and stinky ears.

I just took a kitten into the vet on Saturday b/c I thought he had ear mites. Shelter kittens/cats sometimes do and he was shaking his head a lot which is a classic symptom. He didn't have them but he does have some yeast in his ear.
The other kitten I brought in has possible ringworm. FUN! Anyway, they gave me an antifungal liquid for both the area by her mouth and his ears. It smells like mostly ethyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). |
