Doesn't matter what time I go to sleep, I'm always up between 3 & 5 every morning.

I take a perscribed narcotic to put me to sleep and, am on pain pills and muscle relaxers besides.

You would think all I would do is sleep.

I'm not on a weird sleep schedule, just a weird time zone!

Susan:

I'm usually up til all hours of the night. This is especially true in the winter months. I also seem to awaken at 3 am and have to force myself to go back to sleep. That's usually when I get out of bed, check the boards and try to bore myself into sleepiness. I've been an insomniac for over 25 years. I routinely live on 5 or less hours of sleep. I'm afraid to take sleep meds because I don't even want to add to the problem. When I took Ambien after surgeries, I slept but never felt rested. So, what's the point? I get a lot done, though.

Oh, I wish I could get up earlier, it feels like the day drags by so slowly if I do though!! I go to bed around 10:00 PM and don't get up until 10:00 AM!!! Gosh, it's like I'm a teenager again!! This will all change when I go to work on August 30th!! LOL!
How are you feeling Grandma??

Too bad about the pain - been there.
Have you tried Yoga? When I was really having shoulder pain, making it almost impossible to sleep for long, I started a class in Yoga. At night I'd do about 1/2 hour - amazing how time goes by when you're going relaxing stretches & breathing.

My fav. was lying on the floor. face down, with my arms outsretched. Breathing in, I'd raise my head, look to one side & slowly lower my head so my ear touched the ground, while breathing out. Rest, then breath in , raise my head & return to the centre & repeat on the other side. It is very soothing & relaxes the neck & shoulder area. When I finished I was almost asleep on the floor!

I also get into wierd sleep patterns - gon't get enough sleep & get really hyper & head-achy. I have to be more diciplined ....
All the best

We try to be in bed by 10 pm, PDT. I'm usually ok to sleep through the night. Lately, though, Z wakes early and can't get back to sleep. Poor guy--he's gotta get up to get ready for work at 5:30 every weekday. I usually find he's already on the Vintage Mustang Forum when the alarm wakes me up. I think he's becoming an insomniac, but I don't know why.
