My house is right on the gulf coast right where this image shows where landfall will be, but, a lot can change by Wednesday.

I hate to sound like this, But thanks to the veer to the east it looks like I will miss a direct hit, too. I always feel a little bad thinking 'well, at least its not me', but that it how it goes down here... Hopefully it'll be a weak one.

Storm surge is a problem for me- I am this close to the water-

That is taken from my dock. There is 10' of grass between me and the water- I am on stilts, BUT that only goes so far....

Hey that place reminds me of my first apartment in Galveston, TEXAS. When we got a direct hit from a hurricane the water came all the way up to the base of the apartment on floor one. But a tornado from the same storm took our roof off.
That was Hurricane Jerry back in the late 80's. It was a scary cat 1-2 storm.
I'm now about 5 miles inland on Texas Coast line. I'm gone if one comes this way. We are 11 foot above sea level here.
Even Hurricane Rita took several of our trees down and it was still 100 hundred miles from our house. Unbelievable. They say the winds here got to around 85 miles an hour.

Awwww - Thanks Grammy...... I'll be ok though. If I could survive Andrew in 1992 (Category 5 - with reported winds up to 175 mph in my area (they said) & spawned tornadic winds up to 200 mph, then I can survive these lil ones - only then I did not have even one bird...... I really only worry about them.....Best of luck to you and yours of course & everyone else here in our B.B. Family.......
