They are mules. They also smuggle cocaine and heroin in this manner. Unfortunately, sometimes the bags break and the carrier gets an overdose. Amazing what people will do.

OK so how did they get the charger in? Those are 2-3 times as big as a typical cell phone!

I read this story in the news yesterday and laughed so hard at the fact one of them "snuck" a charger in there. That does not sound like it'd be the most comfortable of circumstances.
