L O S T - Season 3 Premiere!

OH YEAH - it's back!!!

Whew, I'm exhausted, a new episode always does that to me

I always have to thoroughly digest a new episode overnight, but have no fear, I will post a lengthy commentary tomorrow.

I will leave you with these brief thoughts:

Another FABULOUS opening 5 minutes of the season!

I LOVE me some Henry Gale - um, I mean Ben

Well I'll be damned, a Jack flashback that was purdy good - made me even not wish that Jack would be the next to be off'ed (I have lots of beef with 'ol Jack)

Gotta dig out the old map from the Swan hatch blast door (of course I have a copy saved to my computer, DUH, who doesn't ) to see the location of the Hydra - which I called wayyyyyyy back last season that was underground!

And finally, AWWWW, I missed my SmartAss Sawyer

Let’s get to it!

There was so much information given to us last night. I still have not gone and looked at screen caps, but I will.

Great opening scene – definitely need to rewatch and slo-mo the plane crashing. The sight of Ethan still totally creeps me out! Henry/Ben appears to be the leader and we know that he was the one to send Goodwin and Ethan to the Fuselage and Tail section.

I don’t believe that we saw Alex amongst the Others, which I thought was odd…..And they appear to be all sorts of different people, even an older woman.

I don’t know what to think of Juliette – I definitely DO NOT trust her! There’s something odd about her relationship with Henry/Ben – it seems like they’ve had an obvious altercation, but Henry still seems to be calling the shots. And in the very last scene it appears that they may still be on the same team. Odd. Maybe this is why Henry decided to leave the group and infiltrate the Losties? Or maybe his being held captive for so long is the cause of his rift with Juliette? Dave brought up an interesting point with me last night wondering WHY it was HENRY (Ben, whatever) who got caught in Danielle’s trap – was his getting caught on purpose? If so, why send the leader to get caught and infiltrate?

They really had me going thinking that Sarah left Jack for his dad! I was angry right along with Jack and it felt sooooo good when Jack bulldozed Julliet over! I did end up feeling sad for Jack by the end, which is odd for me (I’m a Locke kind of gal )

Which brings me to the realization that the Others are still in contact with the outside world – or are they? Juliette claimed to have Jack’s dad’s autopsy report and said that Sarah was happy – do they know this for sure or are they just trying to bring these emotions out in Jack? And how are they connected to the outside world? (Walt??) Do they have the internet where they can Google everyone’s past? 

The settings were interesting, keeping Jack, Kate, and Sawyer in the animal holding areas that the Dharma Initiative used for the Sharks and Polar Bears and such – so zoo-like. We know from the Lost Experience game this summer (or I’ll fill you in if you aren’t aware ), that the Dharma Initiative failed at what they were trying to do (hence why the hatches are all so outdated) – manipulate the numbers, which are variables in the Valenzetti equation (the equation that can predict the end of humanity). So the big question is what the Others are doing or trying to achieve now – are they still trying to carry out the work of the Dharma Initiative? I don’t think so because of what Juliette told Jack, that it doesn’t matter who they WERE, it matters who they ARE. But that said, I don’t trust Juliette so who knows what lies she is telling. Then again, they are still getting food drops from Dharma – why, and from whom?

Sawyer in the bear cage was too funny! LOL at the fish biscuit!!

I’m definitely wondering what kind of hell Kate will be in for the next two weeks….And I’m still wondering why these three specifically? Hmmmm….

I knew I could count on you, Sarah...

I think they have those 3 because they see them as the leaders and are trying to break them - just like Juliette causing Jack to break down last night.

I think the Others were an experiment at one time also - look at their ideal little community in the middle of the island. That also explains Juliette's statement about it not meaning anything who they were, only who they are.

Someone said the book was a Stephen King book - was it The Stand? Because the virus/depleting humanity mythology in both The Stand and Lost are similar.

I agree about everything you said Laura!

It was a Stephen King book but I didn't catch the title (I'll have to check out a screen cap later), but The Stand was the first thing that came to my mind. And one of the guys objected saying that Ben would never have picked that book - maybe that signifies that Juliet and Ben have different ideas about everything?
