I have been a floral designer for 31 years. The majority of the time, I managed a retail flower shop, did wedding consulting, etc. I just stepped down from a job I held for the past 10 years to go to a smaller shop with no responsibilities. The owner is a bit of a loon and that can be a bit hard to take, but a friend I've known for over 20 years works there also, so we usually laugh it of together. I'm making the same hourly wage I was before without the headaches of hiring and training and making schedules, ordering flowers and supplies, etc.

Up until a few years ago, I also taught floral design at a Community College- taught for about 6 years. The money was nice but it interfered with my main job somewhat since it was so intense. I had really full time, and then some, responsibilities running my store and worked tons of hours and just about every Saturday. The new job lets me have almost every weekend off, which is nice.

I have had my birds for about 10 years now and I also help re-home/place birds in need of new homes- an unofficial thing I do on my own, not as a "rescue" per se. I generally place about 20 or so birds a year. Just found a wonderful home for a male Quaker this week- they are already in love with each other!

No real formal education since I married young and had two children right away- was married 11 years. My sons are grown and on their own- one single, a lead developer for Microsoft, the other married with 4 kids, a project coordinator for his father's company.

My husband has his own company- security/card access software that he developed himself. He is wonderful with all of my birds- he loves them and happily understands my "madness". He always says to folks, "Have you met my wife? She's insane." Then asks me, "So how many birds do you have, Sweetie?" He's a cutie and is 11 years younger than me! Wahoo!

I am a freelance poet and musician in on-and-off study. I have one degree in opera, two years of a degree in classical composition and starting March I'll be working on a double degree in opera and Mandarin, with literature as my minor. The days are full!

But I took last year off in order to see a bit of reality and save money for travel, and so at the moment I am working at Telstra (an Australian telecommunications company) helping with setting up a new national phone network. The office I am in is the best one ever, full of really friendly people and a beer fridge. Hopefully I'll be able to work there part time after I start my new degree.

oh boy, you almost make me feel guilty. Everybody has such interesting careers.
Me, I stay home with the birds and cats and kids. The birdies are such little spoiled brats. They stay out off their cages all day and make me feel guilty if I have to lock them back up if I have to go somewhere......

Im an online investor. I never know how to explain it. Simply put, I invest online. And I've been doing so since age 15. My father is a major business man and so I think I got the desire for a strong career from him.

It sounds really boring but I love it. I work for myself & theres no limit to my income. I even get to work at home and work whichever hours I want. I could never work a normal job with people telling me what to do. Pshh, yeah I wouldnt last ten minutes.

I also attend school. But that will be done at home next year & then I will graduate.

The job I have now is what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. Its my best option for success.

Okay so now I realise that most of you have much more exciting jobs. *coughYVONNEcough*

I will be adding alot more to my resume this year though.

A lot of very cool professions out there. Very diverse group of people here. But I gotta say it, a bounty hunter/model has got to rock!!

In my life there is a long list of professions. U. S. Navy trained electronics tech, due to my wild youth and bad habits of the day I got fired from the Navy and went to work in the Wyoming oil fields as a swamper (chain slinger) decided it was too cold outside so I went to work as a truck mechanic. My extra curricular activities got to be too much so I packed up and moved back to California where I have spent the last 22 years very active in recovery from drugs and alcohol. Working with addicts and drunks. I've been clean n sober a little over 22 years now. BUT (yep, the big but) thats not how I make money.
I'm a jack of all trades. I went back to school to get a civilian degree in electronics and found that electronics bored me to tears. So I gave up that for a field that allows me to work with those in need should I have to. I'm an apartment maintenance man!! For east coasties thats a the building super.
