I found this on deviant art. It is a graphic and a gorey one at that. It depicts the death of a bird and stolen wings. But what touched me is what is said.

With Stolen Wings we can not Fly, without Empathy we will fail.
So ignorantly arrogant: to disregard life for the sake of pleasure and praise ourselves for the spoils of death. Is this the true nature of humanity?
It is simply so very SELFISH

I've looked at the image. Gory indeed, but gorgeous and touching nevertheless. It's one thing to kill for food, or for pleasure AND food, but not pleasure alone. It really says so much in such few words, that I've saved it as a reminder to how cruel humanity can be, even though I need no reminder when I can see it every day through a birds eyes.
