Tip #1 invest in a good pair of ear plugs.
Tip #2 wear ear plugs when ever you are inside of the home.

Based on what you have said and assuming that you have no other birds in the house.

Put the bird in a low traffic area to start and give him a few days to adjust to your house. Try not to handle him to much in the first few days unless it wants to be handled. He needs time to get used to being in a new place and time to destress.

Find out exactly what it is eating and keep the bird on the same diet to start.
After a week or two you can start adjusting the bird to a healthy diet. Feed lots of organic fruits and veggies. Even if the bird does not eat them keep offering. Offer lots of fun toys to chew. A happy active conure is not as loud as a very bored conure. Research the conure you are buying. Know what to expect before you bring the bird home. If everyone did this there would be a lot less birds in rescues.

Counting on the bird it may be noisy. If you love them enough you get used to it. I have six conures and enjoy them so much. I would not trade them for the world. The bird we need ear plugs for is our Blue Headed Pionus!

Maroon Bellied are much like the Greencheek Maybe not guite as nippy. You will not need the ear plugs but your little one will use its beak quite a bit until it gets used to you. Many people think this is being nippy but most of the time the bird is just testing were it is going to step to. All of my four GCC's will come up to me beak first get a firm grip on my finger then step up. it is something you will need to get used to.

Bonita started holding on (as you call it) when she started molting. She is finished with her molt but still does it. Sometimes its not so bad & other times Crystal
