So me and a friend are walking from an apartment to the carport, just as i am about to open the front passenger side door, I hear some racket in the car and out pops a mexican dude, pushes me back to make enough room for him to get out and haul butt because there was cars parked next to each other... Me, instantly the fight or flight instinct kicks in my dukes are up but my brain is still processing what the heck is happening since it happened so fast... so as he is rounding the corner away from me I kick it into high gear and its a good 40 yard dash guy is running faster than he prob has in his life, I am hot on his trail and closing in then it hit me in my head... oh bleep, what if this guy is armed is a car radio worth it etc.... mind you its POURING RAIN like n other... streets are flooded and etc... So friend calls the cops, yada yada... guy didnt get the radio out yet, left his dam screw driver and etc left prints for the cops but will probably never get caught... but yea all this happened at 9:43pm.... by the time cops and etc did there thing 11:43 so yea thats my night last night...

Oh my gosh, glad that you're okay. You were correct in thinking about what he may have done such as a weapon, etc. My ex husband is a police officer with LAPD and he would have advised you to do exactly as you did.
Glad you are okay. |

The hubby and I both have martial arts training. However, all the kung fu and shotokan karate, tai chi and tae kwan do in the world won't mean a thing if your opponent has a gun. If you still have your car, your life and your dignity, then count yourself lucky. Give a good description of the guy to the police, including any facial markings, distinguising features etc.
The funny thing about criminals... it's like an additction. He'll do this again and hopefully get caught without anyone else getting hurt. Just glad you are alright.

That exact same thing happened to me about 18 years ago[but I didn't give chase].I still have the sweet flashlight the guy left in my car.I'm sure it's worth more than the piece of crap stereo he was trying to steal.

I'm betting they're not going to print your car are they? Because breaking and entering and vandalism and attempted robbery just isn't enough for the police to do their job!
Don't you find it sickening how the police simply don't care about thing like finger prints unless a multi-thousand dollar crime is done, or a murder or more felony is committed? It's like if it's not a big arrest case they don't care at all. I mean I understand that the "forensic's team" can cost the county money, but guess what. Your taxes pay that money! So you're entitled to the "full" protection of the law. Man the police just "P" me off! Anyhow scarey the violatoin of your vehicle is. <-- wow does that sound like Yoda?
