Actually, she did send me pics of a Hy that's evidently in someone's living room. (I'll try to post them here--the properties say this was taken in 12/04) Although these could be pics "stolen" from anywhere on the net. I sent her another email, after I received the pics, asking WHY she's adopting it out. She was responding fairly quickly yesterday...but I haven't heard any response to the last email. I'm guessing if it's a scam (which I'm sure it is, but one likes to have hope) she got frustrated with all my questions.

Regardless, after going home last night and THINKING about things...I realise I just don't have the time or money for another fid.

Ok, I just can't help myself! lol The girl got back to me and said she's involved in missionary work and can't take the bird with her. I asked her for her vets name and phone number so I can verify health before making a final decision. I KNOW I should just leave this alone because I KNOW I can NOT afford another fid....but I can't.

Run fast!!! this is the same story everyone gets!!!! The pics are from a breeders website! They will scam you out of as much $$ as you are willing to part with and you will end up with nothing!!! They do not have nor have ever had these birds!!!

If you can, go and pick up the bird and hand over the money yourself. Even if you don't plan on keeping the bird, you could ensure that someone out there can take in the bird forever. It could be something you can discuss with the woman too if you'd like to try and help her find the hyacinth a proper home, if it IS real.

Otherwise, be cautious! OH, and get the photos up too!

The cheapest I have seen a Hy was $9000 in Orlando. We get this all the time, the scammers even were posting on an Aussie bird classified site for awhile.
